I recently had an issue with my MDT 8000 as when I went to swap out my battery I noticed about a half teaspoon of saltwater had entered the battery cavity and when I drained it out it had a orange tinge to the water that drained out as it had been sitting for about 3 weeks since the last use. I have rinsed it out with fresh water and let it air dry and the detector still works fine. I e-mailed Di

Thanks dewey but cliff offered me a couple of the ones he got from you. When you meet up with cliff again just give him a couple more to replace what he gave me. Thank you. I still need to figure out how it broke so it wont happen again.

The only thing I think I was missing was my Equinox 800 in beach 1 as I know there had to be a chain somewhere close by those 2 pendants but it is what it is. I think I could of tried 18khz to locate the chain but the frequency I was running had no problems locating targets.

First trip out using the MDT-8000 with CDV at my favorite beach. I just received my Tarsacci today and cannot wait to give it a good work out. I do have CDV AKA Cliff whom I spend a lot of time detecting with and all of you to help me along the way and will post my finds and my experiences with it. I am not a retiree so my beach hunts are on weekends only on the West coast of Florida.

Agree on the NEEDED accessories. My detector dealer stated 60 to 90 days on waterproof adapter and 30 to 60 on headphones. Lets hope he is mistaken as that puts the stuff out just after the water warms up for the treasures to be found. At least I have my CTX till then.

My 2 trips with the EQ600 I did dig way more bottle caps and micro stuff than I ever did with my CTX. I think my EQ800 may do better on them but wont know till this weekend.

What headphone adapter that comes with the EQ800. As far as I know the adapter that comes with the detector is not waterproof. I have read that the plug in port on it is waterproof but I do not trust that with saltwater.
