My bete noire is the mulch, new turf and other additions that are constantly being poured over top of earth in urban areas. Whatever the "sink rate," in all too many public places around here, you'd have to take off a foot of earth to even get to the old surface.
But leaving that aside, I think the more serious problem is that there is no new supply of worthwhile coins. Silver

Warranty is always determined by the applicable law plus the written warranty, with the law trumping. Often, limitations the manufacturer writes into the written warranty or puts on labels are void under the laws of the state where the product is sold. Of course, a wise manufacturer should go even a bit further than it has to, in the interests of a good reputation and keeping customers happy wi

I have heard that the metal detecting forums in general are not getting the readership they once did, because so much has moved to Facebook and social media. White's probably just did not consider Findmall worthwhile advertising, anymore, so probably more a reflection on Findmall than White's. But, who knows?
It is a shame the forums on White's own website aren't more acti

It's usually a poor design, IMHO, that requires that many settings, and all of them buried in menus and sub-menus.

There is an active, free UK metal detecting site at . Quite comprehensive (if not overwhelmingly active) and worth checking out if you want to see what the Brits are doing with their detectors.

There's nothing wrong with building on existing technology; in fact, it's usually the best idea. Nothing irritates me more than new products with features that don't work nearly as well as the same features on previous models, to the point that I suspect the engineers didn't even bother to look at the previous designs. I also can't knock Whites for not bringing out a sta

I'm somewhat technically competent and not entirely living in the past. I like dedicated knobs on detectors for a simple reason--with them adjustments are faster and easier than with switches and menus. As for tones vs TID, consider which you would give up if you could have only one. We could all manage with only tones; not so much with only TID...
Sure, properly implemented, TID may add

Too true
And even if many consumers are impressed by TID displays, there's no reason a manufacturer can't offer some models with tones only, along with its tones+TID detectors.

Same here. Unless the F-Pulse works better the second time around (Fisher just sent me back a new unit but haven't yet had a chance to test), the TRX will remain my favorite pinpointer. Good depth and I like the fact that it is primarily point sensitive. Does get a bit unstable sometimes, but turning it off and on gets it working again.
Nice finds. I didn't even know they had dog

One thing about the story seems to be proven--the FBI turned up in force, not just a few agents, and conducted some kind of two-day operation, apparently a dig.
Did they take FK's story seriously? Were they looking for something that had nothing to do with Civil War gold? I'm curious and tempted to file a FOIA request...

Tariffs are an equalizer. Our second constitution and present form of government exists because of the need to present a unified economic front against the rest of the world. For 200 years, tariffs were the norm, protecting American industry and American workers. Then, in the late 70s, with the decline in the labor movement, elite capitalists, with their mantra of "free trade" were so

The FBI should have let FK and his son watch the dig, rather than confining them to their car; and now they should be handing copies of the complete file out to anyone who expresses interest. It might not convince FK, but it would stop a lot of other people from believing in this conspiracy. I am pretty sure no gold came out of that hole. But, our alphabet agencies--with their penchant for secre

Should have let them watch the dig. With these accounts of convoys of government vehicles, including two armored trucks, transferring something, and with the government probably now refusing to turn over records, the certainty that there was gold in that hole will only build,

My F Pulse never did work right--insane falsing. I tried all the online solutions. Finally sent it in to Fisher for warranty repair. They called to confirm my address for mailing it back, so I guess they either repaired it or are sending me a new one. Hopefully, it will work better.

As electronics get faster and smaller, it becomes possible to do more with SMF. I doubt the Equinox would have been practical ten years ago, and certainly not at its weight and price point.

Seems strange to have the Anfibio 14 and Anfibio 19, when for just $100 more you can get the Anfibio Multi. Unless I'm missing something, it just muddies the water.

The Invenio scanning detector is interesting. It apparently uses VLF technology. The "scanner" looks like an ordinary coin-type detector. Using VLF technology, I don't see how it can be very deep.

I have the Nox, and it's hard to see any current machine, including the Multi Kruzer, doing any better for the price. Time will tell--opinions seem evenly divided at present. I do give Nokta/Macro credit for bringing out accessory coils at the same time as the Kruzer, and for furnishing firmware updates to fix discovered bugs. Minelab has been remarkably slow with coils, and given its past

I think it will be fine. Haven't used one myself, but I have a F22 in my collection that is surprisingly good for the money,

Thanks for the report on the 6" coil, maxxkatt, which is appreciated. Sounds like you feel the coil is worth having, and I will probably get one myself, if the positive reports continue.
To respond to some of the other posts, I think it's quite proper to ask how the Nox with 6" coil compares to other machines with small coils. That's got to be the main question for anyone w

If I were a relic hunter, I doubt I would pay anything more for the CTX (over the Nox). However, I hunt high-conductive coins mainly, and do think my Etrac is better at that in most places (not in places with a lot of old iron nails and stuff--there the Nox shines). So, I would pay more for the CTX. But, I haven't bought one yet, so I guess I'm not willing to pay that much more

The Minielab-generated hype surrounding the introduction of the Nox was quite successful; but, an unfortunate reality is that no machine could live up to that hype, including the Nox. Let's face it, for over two decades, we've had VLF machines that are performing just about as well as VLF technology allows. The Nox adds a few wrinkles to ML's multifrequency approach, but it is stil
