I was impressed with work they did for me a couple of years back. My old CZ7a was acting up, so when I sent it in, they told me all I needed was a new coil. But they opened, cleaned and recalibrated it and even replaced the faceplate. For the modest price I paid, and the fast turnaround time, I was flabbergasted. One of the best business experiences I ever had.

I've had my CZ7A for over 10 years, and about 6 years ago I thought about making the same battery conversion. My backup detector (1225 ) takes 2 nine volts, and I thought it would be more practical to buy only one size battery for the detectors I was using. But in each case I was getting great battery life from each unit based on the actual hours I was using them, so I decided to leave th

First, I appreciate all the responses to my original post about matching headphones to your detector. But I was looking for an answer to an electronics question, rather than a specific brand recommendation. I have since e-mailed Fisher with my technical question, and am waiting for a response.
BTW, the QZ-99's are 60 ohm phones.
Thanks

I am trying to find the optimal headphones for my CZ7a. At present I am using a dynamic 8 watt impedance headphone (Cal-Rad 15-135) and feel I could maximize my detecting by upgrading to a headphone that more closely matches the output impedance of this machine, whatever it may be. I know that headphones have been discussed in this forum repeatedly, but I don't recall any discussion of mat

Thanks to all who replied here. Right now, Fisher has my old CZ7a, should be back home any day now. Parts and repairs less than $200. When I get it back, all spruced up and re-calibrated, I'm going to see if it is any hotter than before. As far as an upgrade, if I can get a good deal on one, I think the CZ3D would have to get my vote for now. I have an affinity for the CZ. I keep th

Thanks for the reply. I guess after 10 years with this machine I know it pretty well, but it is getting road weary and looking its age. I'm a tall guy and have the rod extended as far as it will go, and it wobbles near the control box and won't tighten enough. I fear some day I'll have to hang it on the wall for lack of parts. As of now, no problem with the meter, just some ki

Hi,
I'm new to this board, but have been detecting about 12 years. My main detector is a battle-tested CZ-7a that has served me very well, but right now it is acting up and will need a trip to Fisher for repairs. I was thinking of buying a new machine, either an F 75 or the CZ 3D, but really haven't been able to choose between the two. The 3D has a real familiar platform, that
