I get a lot of weird looks and sometimes a comment or two but for the last 5 years or so I haven't worn anything except Five Fingers (toe shoes). I wear them every day, detecting or not. I used to have problems with my knees and lower back. Someone, I don't remember who, recommended them to me so I gave them a shot. I grew up barefoot and that's pretty much what you get from these

It may be a stupid question but will the new coils only operate on the three higher frequencies or will they operate on the old frequencies as well as the new?

If you do decide to overthink it, which I for one have a hard time not doing, type COINS "RESONANT FREQUENCY" without the caps into the search field on Google. You'll find everything from patents for electronically identifying the quantity of coins in a stack by determining the stacks resonant frequency to explanations of how you can use multiple coils with different characteristic

Forgive me for going slightly off topic here but the MRI bit hit close to home.
MRI as a metal detector, other than the power requirements and the bulk of the thing, it sure would make locating and digging any target that is even the tiniest bit magnetic as easy as pie. How would that benefit us? Just point the bore toward the ground , fire it up and watch the show.

Being a Minelab user I'll be the first to agree about Bruce's genius as a designer. Having said that he, and/or someone on his behalf, is insanely proficient at wording and securing patents on their technology. It's hard to compete with someone who has patented every conceivable way to accomplish how they do what they do.

Unfortunately that dirt looks all too familiar.
Keith I've got two questions for you.
1.) Is the rock you talk about in your video sandstone with iron in it? I run into that a lot while digging in East Tennessee red clay.
2.) I know this has probably been covered already so please forgive me for asking. What make of e-tool do you use?

My son and daughter are both avid Pokemon hunters. It has brought them a little closer together as they hike and cycle local trails. They also take turns driving each other around town in pursuit of their virtual reward. They've met others out for the same reason. They may never see these fellow hunters again but at least they are interacting with their peers face to face rather than gaming

I understand (at least I think I do) the electronic differences between FBS & BBS. I've had a couple of Explorers and Etracs and presently have a CTX. The only BBS machine I've used was an Excal I owned years ago and I only used it in the lake and at the beach a few times.
Having never used a BBS machine inland it never occurred to me to pit them against each other. Has anyone h

Keith, I knew there was something familiar about your wisdom and the way you pass it on but I could never quite put my finger on it...........until now that is. Your post on this thread made it crystal clear.

By stereo do you mean all metal audio in one ear and disc audio in the other? If that's what you're asking about I know the Nautilus DMC-2b has it. The White's V3i and a couple of there other detectors have mixed mode audio which operates the same way. There are probably more but I'm not familiar with them.

I've got two of the DMC-2b models and they are phenomenal machines. I bought the second one as a backup and have never needed it. These things are built like tanks.
It's true they don't like highly mineralized ground but that's the only negative I have found about them. They have controls for transmit power, all metal sensitivity, disc sensitivity, disc, GB, threshold, coil

Daniel, I think you are spot on with your guesstimate. As an engineer I've seen it happen countless times first hand. Unfortunately, the bottom line ($$$) is the deciding factor when you are faced with the release dates of products that are close but not quite ready for prime time.
The formula is simple but the result often sucks for both the consumer and the customer service rep that ha

On second thought I'm gonna go further than "got it, thanks Keith".
Grammar and vocabulary are two things that have driven me nuts since childhood. We all try to use words and punctuation correctly and effectively. However, growing up in East Tennessee the interpretations/definitions of both "correctly" and "effectively" are pretty loose and largely based on wh

I have read and re-read several posts regarding blendy bleedy audio as well as the thread on blendability and bleedability. Below is what I think each of these terms mean. I hope that you guys will correct me if I am wrong.
1.) Bleedy = when you hear say an iron tone and during that report you also hear a mid or high tone "bleed" into the audio resulting in your hearing two tones sim

Thanks Nate, when you have the time to scan them I would love to read all the info you have on the GMP.
So far I've been having a blast with it. Having not used my DMC-2b in a while I had almost forgotten how much I enjoy using a detector with no meter/display. It also reminds me of how much time I spend putzing around with the myriad of controls most modern machines have as well as the mi

Okay, I took a run at comparing the GMP and the Deus using Keith's dime between two decking boards test. I am somewhat puzzled by the result. No matter how "wrong" I set the GMP up I could not make it fail the test. The Deus however is a different story. Using the stock GMP program the Deus' performance was not equal to that of the GMP. Raising the reactivity to 3 and lowering

I should have said thank you to Keith and TNSS as well in my last post but I've got a little A.D.D. problem that hits me about 99% of the time.
TNSS, Tom, in his field test of the GMP, stated that in his dirt the Deus has a slight advantage in separation and the GMP has an edge on depth. I don't think I have the skill set to nail down anything more than that.

Des, you must be psychic. I have honestly been thinking about where I might get an XP hip mount bag off and on since the detector arrived yesterday. I had a Minelab hip mount bag that probably would have worked but I gave it to a forum member a couple of weeks ago (before I bought the GMP).
I'll gladly take it. PM me and let me know your preferred method of payment and I'll get it to

Thanks TNSS, I have been looking for answers to the two questions I asked in my first post and I re-read owners manual. I think it is a problem of semantics. When I think of discrimination I think of silencing a range of targets.
If I now understand it correctly the Iron Threshold control on the GMP is an iron audio break control. To "discriminate" let's say square nails in the w

I modified the original post for the sake of brevity. The pertinent info/questions are intact, I just cut out some of the frivolous stuff.
I just picked up a used GMP from treasure classifieds and when it arrived today I took it out on the deck. I have taken Keith's between the nails/boards experiment to what might be considered a bit of an extreme.

Goodmore is right about felt soled shoes. I used to spend a lot of time in mountain streams with a fly rod and a spinning rod. I'd use the fly rod until I was about ready to leave then pull the ultra-light spinning rig out, bait it with corn and catch the supper that had not been hitting my flies all day. I did it in tennis shoes and boots and froze my ass off until I broke down and bought a

I figure if there's anyone anywhere that can answer this question they've got to hang out here.
Can anyone tell me what the different audio frequencies of the CZ-3D are? If not, can you point me to a video or audio clip that contains examples of all the tones?
Thanks in advance,
Chris

I do not have a hip mount for the CZ but I do have a bag/case that was made for the Minelab Advantage. I used to put my CZ-3D in it and while it wasn't a custom fit it worked quite well. I've never owned a CZ7 so I'm not sure of the size difference between it and a CZ-3D. If you think it will suit your needs I will send it to you. If you're interested just PM me your shipping

First off allow me to thank y'all for all the info and advice in my "help thinning out the herd" thread. There will be some similarities between that thread and this one simply because I don't think I phrased some of the questions clearly in the first post so I want to take one more shot at it and then I will put it to bed so to speak.
I'm still being fickle as I love
