On my unit both clad and silver dime hits at 1 1/4".
Also on testing the Garrett, if I test inside a cool house (76 - 78 degrees) it takes about 5 minutes on my unit before it starts to chirp and vibrating by itself. If I carry it outside in this 100 degree heat and let it stay there for 15 minutes or so to stabilize, it only takes a few seconds over 2 minutes before its starts chirping

Apparently, some Garrett units are hotter than others. In the video that earthmansurfer posted, his Garrett unit would hit on the dime only at 1". My unit hits a dime at 1 1/4". One of my friends unit will hit a dime at 1 3/8". Another friend just bought a used unit and he claimed 2" on a dime. When it was tested, it was actually 1 13/16". All measurements were chec

One of the things I have found on the Garrett is that the longer it is on, the more depth it gets until finally, at a point, it starts chirping and vibrating all by itself with no metal anywhere near it.
This is the depth I'm getting with my unit in an air test. The depths obtained are within 10 to 15 seconds of first turning the unit on. The unit is turn off and then the next denominat

I do not necessarily like this type of testing..........as..........it is only 2-dimentional (2D). The real-world is (3D). ie: Place one of those nails an inch above the coin......and slightly off to one side by an inch or two...........and the world changes.
Even Monte states " Remember, this is a simple comparison of a good target on the same plane as four ugly nails so it

I did a test on the Omega back in March and I got very different results than what is shown on the video. I don't have a video, just the results. I can see 2 things that were different from what was shown on the video.
1. I had the coil attached to the detector so the coil cable wasn't flopping around.
2. I also would sweep across the nails and coin and not hover and make shor

I bought a Teknetics Omega back in Jan. of this year. Received it one day and saw it had a problem in all metal mode but worked fine in disc. mode. Sent it back after calling First Texas the next day. That was over 2 weeks ago. Received it today. It still has the very same problem. Have to call them back and resend it back. This is/was my first Teknetics. Not a good start.
