my two cents is when some one finds the big caches, we never hear about them in the US, only in Europe do they report them, and I bet some of them go under the radar, but research is where the answers are

one thing I read years ago about finding gold coins is the Eastern US had strong banks, so most people kept their money in banks, from the Miss River west, people held on to their gold, so they lost it easier, I rarely hear of someone east of the Miss. River finding gold coins, but I bet they are there to be found, probably in a large jar full of gold and silver coins

first he said he used more than one detector and he got them there, I know many guys that got divorced from Metal detecting, we are very obsessed with what we do, and I have see collections just like his, and the people who have them have been hunting since the 70's, I would say it was stretched a little, enjoy life and go dig something

I use to use great head phones about 8 years ago, I was in the woods and saw something out of the corner of my eye, I turned my head and a black bear was walking towards me, I dropped and ran, I looked back and the bear ran the other way, I went back and got my machine and been using adequate head phones since, I get spooked in the woods a lot, have had all kinds of wildlife get close to me

isn't the price of gold tied into the value of the dollar, so as the price of gold goes up , the dollar goes down, making the gold worth less for the purchasing power,so it really better to dig gold than to buy gold, or did I funk economic next year

it's funny about those lantern, I tell people to check the dates too and nobody know they are dated, I pull them off and save the wheel part, like they are coins, the reeds, everybody talks about them being good finds, and I like finding them, but I find them every 3 hunts, I have a hundred of them, and even dug full ones, and they do sound good, those are good dirt finds and hope I'll b

how about a clock and a phone in the machine so when the wife calls to get your butt home because company is there, with head phones on I don't hear the phone, and get in trouble a lot, I could detect more if they could call me thru my detector, I could even be working at the same time, and while we are at it, how about a transporter, like in Star Trek, then we can save on gas and detect mo

TerraDigger, this is going to sound stupid, but I can program a XLT but once it is in I don't know how to get most of the numbers out, It is close to the beach program, but I tweaked it so it runs smooth on the wet sand, I dig dimes I would say 8 inches, but digging in wet sand you never know, it could fall back in , I have dug can bottoms over 2 feet deep but then again, I might have bad di

Space Shuttle program is 98.4% successful, it's more like 1000%, look what it has done, I remember when Kennedy said we were going to the moon, I thought back then, I was about 10 years old, yeah, in the year 2050, for what they did, it is mind boggling, and the Hubble scope, have you seen the pics, people don't remember what it was like 50 years ago, we need 10 of these programs

I have my XLT set up so I can hunt in the wet sand and surf, it sounds just like max's does, a little mineral noise, but when I hit a good target , you know it, and I hunt some of the nastiest iron infested beaches in Maine, they ship built in these harbors for 300 years, I dig some big iron, I don't know if it set up to dig deep gold but I do pretty good each year, I usually hunt alone

it's not just them, other companies too, they figure you buy it, we'll will fix it later, but a lot of people ain't going to buy, and think twice before they buy other things from the company, not a good way to do business, especially were money is tight with most people

most people just get them and drive them, not knowing all the things the machine can do
I've been consistantly following multiple detecting forums too, for the last 12 years and I can't believe how this hobby has split up so many friendships

I step on a ground nest of yellow jacket a few years ago, within seconds I was naked in the woods, doing a Mexican hat dance on my cloths, was not a pretty sight, I got dress after killing them all and walked out of the woods, by the time I got to my truck, my arm was swollen so bad, I couldn't carry my detector, they get me at lease one a year

I got one 2 weeks ago, it doesn't false but the iron disc #s don't come up as 10 to 40, it 's just 4 sets of o to 9, the tenths digit is missing, don't know if I'm going to send it back, might be the only one and be worth more money and it might work better

Guys, I work in Property Management and talk all the time on the phone, I hate doing this, I'm a hand on type of person and like talking face to face, but now a days , you need to order parts or services, when I talk on the phone , I write everything down, both of what we say, the person name I talk too, the date, everything, so if there is a misunderstanding , I have notes to go back too, I

and that's why I live in Maine, no poisonous snakes, I just fear snowmen and snow balls, but those yellow jackets are all over, they are the killer, I get attacked at lease once a year and swell up and it hurts, you guys take care down there, I've detected once in Virgina on vacation, and got bit by a jigger, makes our mosquito and black flies look tame, but we are loaded with tics up h

Tom, you write,
when you went back to the car to swap detectors, did the nearby local radio station switch from nighttime 10KW to daytime 50KW transmit power? Or did the A/C compressor and pool pump cycle 'on' at the nearby building?
how far away do you have to be for these conditions have no effect, I think about a lot of the other conditions and that's why I keep hunting t
