My take on a certain post on here is that the poster is somehow wanting to assume the position that it is HIS business as to whether WE decide to send OUR detector to Tom for a certification/peace of mind, or just because we damn well please. I have personally checked DOZENS of detectors over the years and can tell you that there is up to 25/35% difference between brand new same brand detectors.

FT said that some of the updated machines were not "taking the upgrade properly" whatever that means. My thoughts run toward if part of the software is bad what affect is this having on the other functions--could be good----or bad. This is WHY FT should at least check a machine before sending it back to the to the serfs.

If FT was ORDERED to screw up the upgrade situation they Could Not have done as complete screwup as they have. I have a 6 month old 75,eligible for FREE upgrade, that I will not send in. I have a feeling that in the future "non upgraded 75's " may command a premium in the resale market.

I with you Steve on getting a "proper 75". I have tons of unused stuff that didn't work and I just hate the return game.

Both are nice, but #1 is most eye catching, however, being a map person #2 is also nice. Perhaps the personality of the recipient would be the tie breaker.

Steve your input is valuable and desired and sometimes the old"don't kill the messenger" is forgotten. Hopefully you will continue to supply info for the 99% who want it--whether we agree or not. Thanks again for your efforts.
