ncwayne,
I'm not sure how it works but sometimes it takes a few page views or page refreshings before the Phorum scripts log you in. Sometimes, it picks you up on the first page you visit (?).

It looks like the next generation of treasure hunters are starting out younger. This thing looks pretty neat. I wonder if Tom can tune it a little hotter.

Late tonight, I will clear all my caches and do the 'sanity checks' and clear all stale files in the forum and let's see if that fixes it.

Thank you David, I never thought of myself as an unsung hero, I'm more like a background app...
Thank You and Happy New Year to you also.

I will be doing some database and PHP coding work on the forum hopefully late tomorrow night. I wanted to do it this week-end but got the flu to the point I couldn't see or think straight. I should be good to go by tomorrow evening. Maybe some Trick or Treater infected me...

Keith,
I should be able to bring everything over to a new server without losing old massages. New messages would be out for a few days and in the shuffle and some of the most recent messages might get lost (a message posted right after the message board data base was saved but before the new site was set up). With any action, there is a small possibility of having some issues, hence, wh

A few months ago, the web hosting service this website has been using for the over 9 years put this site on a 'new and improved' server. Since then, it seems I get the same "Resource Limit Is Reached" message a few times a month. I thought that after purging the old PMs that this resource overload would be taken care of. I guess I was wrong. Next week, I will either get th

I don't think the United States would want to share the same currency as Greece. Plus, the Federal Reserve would NEVER let that happen. Kennedy started printing Silver Certificates (bypassing the Federal Reserve) and look what happened to him.

Keith,
I'm glad I got you back on! I go to the Phorum database and delete from the data table. That's how I also do deletions on the forum during 'spam bomb' attacks. To delete from your own PM file, in the header at the top of the messages to the left their is a square box next the word 'Subject', clicking (checking) that box puts a check mark in all visi

Kieth, I think you and Tom have the same problem, you have reached maximum volume of PMs (like your mailbox is full). Would you mind if I deleted about 200 of the oldest from the database?

Forum Members,
Please delete old Private Messages (PMs) from your PM folders.Currently, there are over 18,000 total PMs in the database. This large amount of old PMs is really bogging down the website server. IF you have read and responded to PMs and no longer have a use for it, please delete them from your folder. Thank you.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Can we PLEASE let this post die out and work it's way down the list! The recent political actions against the Confederate Battle Flag might make civil war relics more collectible and yield higher prices (for those who sell finds), other than that, it has little to do with Metal Detecting and has become unsettling to some members. Please also remember to show due r

I also tried to add an 'Ignore User' feature but it still isn't working and I don't know why. The [] under the date of the post is where the ignore user option should pop up. I'll work on it later tonight and try to figure it out.

Ncwayne, excellent post, Thank You.
Your post and the follow ups by Jack Flynn, Khouse and Bryannagirl pretty well sum up the whole philosophy of this site. The "Please feel free to discuss any subject, in good taste and with due respect to all users." Is pretty much the only rule on this forum, with Thomas Dankowski being the final say on what is in good taste and respectful

Everyone,
When I get home from work today, I will study back up on this problem again, thought I had it fixed. I hope to also do some upgrades to the whole forum, add features and such. Unfortunately, this is a rather dated forum software package, but it is hard to change over to a new forum package (passwords won't cross over). Thank you so far for your patience.

SilverPete,
I kind of like it this way too. Change does not come easy and puts some people off. I really need to talk with Tom about some changes that might work well, but I don't really want to hurt a good thing. We'll see, if things really get to the point where newer features are the norm and this forum becomes a relic itself, maybe then we'll change it. Might try to

Threads generally fade away in time and get pushed back many pages. Posts with good valid information keep getting brought forward. Eventually, this post should fade way back many pages...

JJ,
I thought I fixed that? Someone else that brought it up said that it was working and allowing multiple edits (?). I'll check back on it when I get home later this week.
