I have noticed them recently in a range of about $180-$250. I had one several years ago. Interesting display on that. I just felt like I had to constantly watch the display on every target. Not a bad machine, just different.

I also noticed wireless headphones on the Deteknix site with both common plugs available on the adaptors. I don't see them for sale in the US.

If you are wondering why there aren't aftermarket coils for the CTX it's probably because of the electronics in them that the other models do not have. No idea whether Minelab has licensed the tech to another company. As for Minelabs I love them but find them too heavy and getting worse with each model, overpriced, no repairs for older units, and the audio just seems to lag. I thought

VERY interesting. It looks like the handle adjusts on the rod and the cuff is fixed. Apparently lightweight. Can't wait to see the real thing in action.
Edit-I took a look at the pic blown up and it looks like the cuff may be mounted to a shaft that slides. At first it looked like the handle had some sort of yellow locking buttons on the sides.

In the back of my mind I keep thinking about the mod Reg Sniff developed for the TDI audio. Most people would think Whites would be all over that mod, pay Reg for the rights, and improve the TDI series. But noooo. I'm sure their primary response to the whole debate would be "it would void the warranty". They really should have flown Reg in to be part of that video if they wante

When Carl Moreland left Whites I think that may have been the beginning of the end. Indeed a merger could be the eventual outcome. They still have a valuable brand name. Whites should have promoted Carl to be in charge of the whole design and production area. Probably a little in-breeding going on up there. Definitely little or no leadership like many have alluded to here. FTP added some se

Am I the only one that read the title and thought it was some sort of link to a news article? I thought "geez, I would hope they were dead". LOL

If hiring an elf to jump around and produce a garbage video where no can be heard, Whites is in serious doodoo. This tour of Whites could have been a 100 times better. Starting with getting a host that doesn't try to steal the show. Then if they want objective advice and feedback, do what Makro does, listen, respond to customers on open forums, and don't get their corporate panties i

Good post. As for Tom calibrating F75s, I thought he did not calibrate them but rather just tested them to find the good ones off the assembly line. Please correct me if I am wrong. As for FTP products in general, this post is why I am leary of buying one used without a transferrable warranty. For the one that is for sale, has it been registered? If so the unit is techincally used and may no

A big thanks. I got a Piranha for fathers day. No warranty card. I never would have noticed that blurb on their web site. I agree it sounds a little too convenient. Since it was bought directly from them why wouldn't they have a record already and force someone to mail in the card?
If you go to their page where you can download the warranty card it has this message "To activate

From a consumer point of view the hush hush on the 8500 is more than a little bizarre since they have an ad in the August WE Treasures. Poor timing on the marketing side if nothing else.

As many people are on here are the number of answers you will get. Different goals, soils, abilities, likes and dislikes for ergonomics, audio, weight. My primary go to machines are a Makro Racer, MXT Pro and TDI SL. For me they get the job done. I also have a few others I play aorund with when I have time like a Compass XP, Tesoro Tejon, IDX Pro.

I always have an extra detector and ask if they want to try their hand at it. 99% of the time they say no but it seems like they appreaciate the offer and soften up a bit.

I've been thinking about trying to use an electro magnet. That way you could turn it on for collection and turn the power off to release the junk. Then if the magnet could be made into a 30 inch wide bar you could drag it across the ground and it should clear a lot of loose surface garbage out of the way. It was more of a daydream than anything and I don't really know if it is practi

I find the occaisonal quarter and maybe a few other coins. I don't have it commited to memory but I think the Canadian coins have been made with a variety of materials over the years so I suppose many look like junk or are discriminated out. I think the materials include nickel, brass, steel, copper, and combinations of metals. Mexican coins are like that too. I noticed some bi-metal Mex

I'm close to retirement and I know what you guys mean. Two days on the weekend don't allow enough time for yard work, family and still have time for trips that require overnight travel. Frustrating.

Will it pass Monte's nail board test with those settings? Or even the other tough test with the stacked 2x4's with the nails on top and the target at a lower level? Thanks Keith for your dedication on the CTX. I liked mine but didn't love it for the typical reasons.

My standard coil mounting ear just broke over the weekend. Maybe 6 hours on that coil. Plus the bolt snapped. I suppose Makro got burned by some supplier for the bad materials used. I am sending it to metaldetector.com for replacement. I still have the small OOR and 5x10 coil in the meantime.

I just go to the Bay, search for the Zags and sort by cheapest BIN first. You can usually pick up a 10 inch tablet screen protector for about $10 delivered. I usually trace it out by laying the film on the detector face or if you still have it you can use the factory protective plastic. Then just use a razor blade to cut it out. I even put it on membrane switches since it gives a nice tactile

I wondered about them too. I don't want to spend any money on one. Just curious since they appear to have put a lot of effort into making them look nice. I assume that's about it though.

metaldetector.com is the US distributor. If no one has them they could probably backorder it and ship it when the next batch comes in. I ordered mine when I ordered the Racer. It's a good coil and the smooth bottom is nice to have in the weeds. Don't forget an extra rod and bolt.

You earned that stuff having to wear a wet suit. That does suck when people try to block access on public beaches. Glad they got it ironed out but hard to believe it's only been 3-4 years ago since the ruling. A buddy of mine had a similar problem when one of the property owners was also a local judge. It wound up in court, the land owner/judge lost and he would just glare when my buddy

You are dead on. I knew I had seen that handle design before but I had forgotten about that Robertson line.
While I am drawn more to knob based machines, I have wondered if there is anyone looking at the "pane of glass" concept where the display can be changed depending on how the customer wants things arranged and displayed. You can see evidence of that in the nerwer versions of t

It seems to be a mixed bag. I've seen some posts that I think were meant as a joke with sarcasm but that doesn't always come across in type. I'm sure I've been unintentionally guilty of that. Others are where some people are just venting and emotional which to me is okay unless it goes overboard with made up stuff and no facts or gets into name calling. To your point I hav
