Day two: I only was able to get out for about an hour and what I discovered is that I'm having a hard time deciphering a good shallow target from a deep can. I am digging much deeper holes even in 3 tone with the gain low. With that being said, I also found a war nickel which to me is a great find. It's only my third silver coin in over four years.
I also started playing around

I finally pulled the trigger and updated all of my equipment! Thank you to everyone that gave input both on this forum and through PM's. I ended up going with the Racer, a Propointer AT, Killer Bee Wasp headphones and a Lesche digger. Overall, I'm happy with my choices and spent three hours this morning getting to know the tools. I dug far less trash than I do with the ACE 250 and f

I hunt in trashy parks, open grassy fields, and farm fields. With the 250 I just notch out iron and dig everything else that sounds good. That being said, unless I find a pop can or something else large, I don't find much deeper than about 5"-6". I don't necessarily go looking for anything in particular, I just hope for the best and end up with a large amount of clad. Livi

Do you have particular issues with it or is it just not your cup of tea? How soon do you think it will be before you'll depart with it?

Changing brands is not an issue for me since I will have to get used to any upgraded machine. Right now I hunt trashy parks, large open fields, and farmland so I like the idea of separation for the trashy areas and depth for the fields. I really like the backlight feature of the Racer as it will allow me to continue my hunts into dusk. I've heard great things about both units but it seems

I briefly spoke with a trusted dealer today who claimed that the AT Pro is a better detector than the Racer and better than most other detectors for that matter. I mainly detect parks and fields and I'm not too concerned about the machine being water proof. He cited the overload being his main issue with the Racer . I only plan to buy one detector & keep my ACE 250 as a backup so I w

I don't have the racer....yet, or a lot of experience with machines but given what people have said regarding the placement of the mount, has anyone tried mounting the coil backwards? Would that effect the operation of the Racer negatively? Would it solve the front heavy issue?

So, with the recent introduction of multiple waterproof pinpointers, has anyone seen any comparisons between the Makro, Nokta, and Garrett AT? I know the Makro has tested well. The Garrett has had a strong following in the past, and the Nokta appears to be an updated Makro but can only be purchased at one dealer. If all goes well, I will be upgrading all of my equipment and all of these pin

When and where is automatic ground tracking beneficial? I look at reviews of machines that have it yet everyone seems to just use the pump action balancing. I read in a manual that it should be used in all metal mode but not in discrimination mode. Does anyone use this feature or is it just one of those things that is technologically cool but limited in real world application?

Has anyone heard if they will be sending out accessories at the same time? I'm more interested in building my own package and skipping out on things like the apparel, bag, and charger. This will reduce my cost about $50 and get me things that I want like an extra lower rod for the small coil.

Based on what my untrained eyes see, it appears to be a far 6. My problem is that I tend to be wrong on these sort of things so I have decided not to get excited about it until I can get someone else to see it. It's hard to find someone in central IL that is knowledgable in Canadian coins. I've had it about 2 years and I'm still unsure. I'm not a collector and would hate t

I have a 1926 Canadian 5 cent piece and I'm seeking assistance on determining if it is a near 6 or far 6. I've looked online but it all starts looking the same after awhile. I would post a pic but i dont see a means to do so on here. I haven't had any luck with the local coin dealer.

What I've noticed is that there are a lot of experienced people on these forums that have been detecting for a long time and have acquired multiple high end detectors. I think that what people need to keep in mind is that there are many more people that visit, to learn from the experts. Not everyone has the financial means to have multiple machines or to buy the high end units currently on

I'm thinking that the Impact might be geared more for coin shooting than the Racer. I look at it this way; Nokta/Makro is still a relatively new company that appears to be attempting to make changes in the way manufacturers attend to the consumer's desires. In doing so, they will make some mistakes but if their end goal is to provide quality products at a fair price with good custome

It appears that those in the know on the Racer are here so I thought I would pose a newbie question. I've been using an ACE 250 for the past few years and have decided that it's time to step it up a notch. I want to move to a mid range detector and have narrowed it down to the AT Pro, and now the Racer as they are both in the approximate price range I'm willing to be in. Aside f
