Keith, looking forward to your test videos on the Velox one. Hope you will get to test how this machine does in wet salt sand. I do not see how a single frequency machine can handle wet salt sand with any stability. It is stated in the Kelleyco adds that it functions well in that environment. Would like some feedback on this issue if possible. Thanks...Stuart

AMC, that is a good message too everyone. Once you learn your machine, you can get so much more out of it. Love the Gold. Still trying to figure out why it struggles on the oxidation on bullets and with the different KHz on the relic, no problem picking them up at all. Tested head to head on a three year old test plot. Gold will occationally hit on a three or two ringer in the ground but once out

Thanks Tom and I agree the Manufacturers should sit up and take note of all the customers who are water detectorists. Although a PI does not discriminate as such, I can say that on my duel field I can tell a white gold signal from all others but can not tell a yellow gold signal from anything else. The white gold is a much softer and smoother tone. Wish I could get my hands on an Aquastar II, but

One of the things that I think land hunters should take from the water hunters is to go to a straight shaft. You have no idea how much better the balance of a machine is and how much less effort it is to swing a detector shaft if you have never water hunted. Never understood why manufacturers insist on making a curved S shaft for almost all detectors. Straight shafts also make it easier to use a

Thanks Dan. Hoping for some tech talk here because this is the ultimate site for technical support, not just opinion by some who understand detectors and some who are brand loyal. You guys are the best at dissecting the best and worst of each detectors capabilit

I do not see much info on pulse and vlf machines on this site concerning water hunting. So, thought I would throw out the question of water machines. After over twenty years of relic and coin hunting I have found that water hunting at saltwater beaches has brought new excitement to my detecting addiction, and has also paid for many machines in the last two years. I now have a customized Minelab E

No matter what anyone says, to me the Cz6a is still one of the best relic, beach machines ever made. Even after all these years. Just my humble opinion of course.

Contracts on a great complete set. You really earned that one. Anyone who never got into relic hunting has no idea what a great find you have there.

I look at each detector like tools in a tool box. Each has its own purpose. Yes you can get by with one all around detector in most locations sort of like a present wrench for most nuts and bolts, but it is not the perfect tool for every situation. That having been said, I guess my all around tools would be my Cz6a and sovereign GT. My specific use tools would be the Excalibur II and Whites dual

I have a pair of Grey Ghost headphones and have had no problem with them, but have read several complaints from people about the volumn not being good enough. Perhaps just a change of headphones is all you need. Something like the Black Widows could really improve what and how well you hear the tones. They have great volumn and a noise limiter built in for large shallow targets. Would be a shame

Goldmanjace. My apology. I was working and trying to text at the same time. The Sorex had the 3kz, 7kz and the 14kz coils. With the 7kz coil it hit the bullet at 8 inches eaisily. The Vista Smart also hit the 8 inch bullet with no problem. I will do some more testing with the Vista Gold in the comming week as I have seven days off to detect. May the weather warm up and the sun shine on all of us t

Thanks for the useful comments guys. Dan, I have always been a Cz6a man. Was worried maybe it would be too much like the same type of machine as far as depth and iron unmasking ability. I have always heard it was great at the beach and on silver, but was unsure of its ability as a relic machine. Thanks...Stuart

Just bought a Sovereign GT from Kelleyco and added that coil for $150, but it is on back order. The sale price was at $179.99 but got a discount on the coil for buying both together.

There is new bone phone tech headphones out. I have tried a pair of 504c that I bought on e-bay, can't remember the manufacturers name. The slide over the ears and make contact with your cheek bones. Work amazingly well. The 504c has a built in amplifier. You can still wear your hearing aid and carry on a normal conversation at the same time as detecting. I am impressed with how well they wo

I already have an excal II so should be easy to learn. Would like to hear others opinion of the strengths and weaknesses of this machine as a relic and coin hunter. I already know that it is a capable beach machine. Thanks...Stuart

Ron. My thoughts exactly. No matter how many CW bullets I find, I still treasure them, but I guess I can give one up in the name of research. I will post my results...Stuart

If it can be done to an Excal then Joe has done it. Congrats on the better head gear, maybe it will pay off with a few more of those soft gold whispers. I just put the gell earpads on my stock headphones and they helped alot, but not nearly as good as what you now have.

Deathray. I have only found one CW bullet with the DTVG at about four inches in "good" dirt. But I have an old battle site that always produces lots of bullets, and the only time I took the gold there I found no bullets, however I did well on percussion caps and small buttons. Got me to thinking how strange that was. I always thought that any machine that hit brass well would surely hit

I happen to have the Deeptech Vista Gold and it does get great depth and has great iron unmasking ability. Now, that having been said, let me tell you about an experience I had with it last weekend. I had a few conversations with a detectorist about him possibly selling me his Sorex 7281 (Russian made) detector and the three coils 3kz, 7kz, and14kz that he bought with the machine. I made a portab

Try the England treasure hunting sight.... It has all kinds of information on how to properly clean your oldest coins. They do a great job and is also one of the possible sites that I may go to later this year for a week of hunting for old coins up to 2000 year old coins. Now that would be the hunt of a lifetime for me....Stuart

Government limitation on amount of power allowed has limited what is available in the detector field. New tech must be developed or most manufactures will not try to develop a better tech unless there is great financial gain available.

Bone phones they call them. Wear on cheek bone and leaves your ears open. They work great. Only concern is you have to charge them, the detector does not power them. If you want more volumn just put in earplugs and the volumn seems to double. Great for the hearing impaired, but work great at the beach. Surrounding wind and noise does not affect your hearing. Cost, about 65 dollars. Surprisingly g
