I am in the market for a new detector. I am leaning towards the Teknetics T2se or the Omega 8000. Which would be the best buy for coin hunting? And which would be more versatile. Thanks in advance.

I have decided to trade up for a new detector and need to sell my F70. It is less than a year old and comes with three coils. a stock 10 inch coil, A 11 inch fisher 75 coil and 5 inch fisher coil. the detector is in good shape with very minor scratches on the screen I keep the screen covered with a cell phone protector. Also has a rain cover for the box. Asking 650.00 and I will ship. This detecto

My buddy and I had about 3 hours to hunt so we returned to the old fairgrounds we have hunted over the last 4 years. We planned to look for nickels only. I had the f70 with the 11 inch double D coil on. My settings were 60 sensitivity,4 disc, and 0 threshold. with 4h tones. I managed to find an 1870 shield nickel. plus some clad. My buddy using his Minelab SE Pro with an 8 inch coil found a very o

Is there enough difference between the Teknetics T2 and the Fisher F70 to justify the purchase of the T2 if you already have an F70? Is the TZ easier to use? Thanks in advance.

Would the Omega 8000 with the DD coil find coins better then the Fisher F70 with the 11 inch DD coil or the Garrett ATPRO with its frequency output.and how about the depth capability of the Omega? Thanks in advance.

Aaron the reading was near a penny reading. I was using my 11 inch F75 coil. In air the Musket ball reads 50 to 52 VDI but in the ground some other trash may have upgraded the reading I can't remember for sure what it read except it was near a zinc penny reading. but because of the depth dug it. The ball was about 1/2 inch in diameter.

Got a chance for a couple hours detecting in a local park. I managed to find some clad but got a little surprise. I was using my F70 with the 11 inch coil and was getting a lot of trash signals. I was sweeping an area that was fairly clean and got a good signal at 6 inches. I dug a plug and out popped a dropped Musket ball. I had a nice white patina. This park is not known for old bullets or musk

My arthritis let up today so I went detecting at the local park for about an hour and a half. Had a great time digging up some clad and a pendant that had a gold finish but no marks on it. The script on it said Senior and 87.the back said Josten's. It was clipped to a skeleton key that was only 2 and a half inches long. Never the less I had a ball and wish you all good luck and success with

I have owned several detectors and found many old artifacts, coins, rings and other valuables with all of them. I have a friend that I detect with who out finds me on most occasions. He uses a Minelab and I use a Fisher and AT Pro. Sometime I beat him in finds but neither of us find a huge amount more then the other. I finally realized that it was not my detectors fault because he has never foun

I have a F70 with a 5 inch and 11 inch double D coil as well as a AT Pro with the standard and 5X8 coil, I have found many good artifacts and old coins with both. My question is am I equipt weel enough to do serious detecting compared to the high end detectors. I am retired and don't have a lot of money to buy the high end detectors. In other words, am I equipt well enough to compete with th

What type of Koss headphones do you use? I have a pair that have quit on me and I bought them after finding out what you were using. I cannot find them on the internet and can't find a model number on the phones. Would you please let me know the model number and if you know they are still being made. Thanks in advance.

There has to be more detectors that will detect a dime at 12 inches since Tom's soil is low mineral. What about the Blisstool? Of course I realize Tom has not checked all detectors but I don't want some beginners to think those is the only detectors that can go that deep. It should be mentioned that the soil type has a major bearing on depth.

Today was another day at the old fairgrounds. My buddy and I have hunted the place for 3 years. It is not a large fairground but dates back to the 1800s. We have been unable to find any silver for over a year but still find Indian heads, Shield nick;les and V nickles amonst the trash and nails as well as pull tabs. We have been searching slow and deep trying to unmask coins in the trash. we have

I had just received my new sand scoop and couldn't wait to try it out, but where? All I had was a little lake near by that had a closed beach for several years. So I decided to try the scoop and my AT Pro in water for the first time. I ground balanced the detector in the water and it balanced to a reading of 43. in a half an hour I found the following items. a piece of iron, can slaw, aluminum

I have seen a lot of comments about people wanting to have computers with the face being able to be lit up. There is no reason to be disappointed if your detector does not have lights. If you like your detector and wish to be able to light up the face of it there is a simple and effective way to light your detector. One of the major merchandise stores has a terrific bright LED light that not only

Went detecting at my neighbors yard this evening. I was using my F70 with the 5 inch coil. The settings were Disc 0, Sensitivity 60, Threshold 0, sounds 4H, Speed DE.. I found several deteriorated Lincolns, a couple of dimes all at about 3 inches. Then I got a signal at 5 inches that turned out to be a wheatie. About 10 feet from the wheatie I got a 6 inch deep signal and dug a 1964 Rosie. Need

I went across the street to my neighbors yard this evening and ran the F70 in the mono tone with 6 disc and the yard came alive, I got a penny, dime and quarter in 3 digs at 3 to 5 inches deep. All were clad. The interesting thing is where there was no nails or iron I got a locked on VDI accurately identifying the coins. I was using my 5 inch coil. The coil is amazingly deep in mono tone. This set

I find that my AT PRO will ground balance consistently higher then my F70. For example on the same place on the ground The AT PRO ground balances at 90 while the F70 balances at 71 to 73. The VDT's also ring higher then the F70 50 to 51 on a nickle and in the 30"s on the F70 I can see a propriety setting scale by different detector manufacturers. But the ground balance deviations leave

Thanks for the info tnsharpshooter.. I went back to my old fairgrounds today and found out you have to be prepared to do a lot of digging in the 1 tone setup. Of course you can find a lot of good stuff this way or just non ferrous junk. I have decided this setup is great for what it does around a lot of nails. I will reserve the settings for when I need it. I tried the settings in one of my clad

Tom when you say just hunt by the audio what do you mean? Since it is a monotone do you just sweep till you get e repeatable signal in both directions or does the audio change in any way? I am sorry to bug you about this but want to get this technique nailed so I can confidently use these settings.

I have spent the entire evening trying to get a handle on Tom's settings for maximum unmasking of targets. I have my f70 set at 6 disc and one tone. I picked up several targets with this setting but no joy. The VDI does jump all over the place but I dug several that was showing in the 50 to 80 VDI range and only found aluminum slaw. If the VDI's ranged in the 20 t0 30 VDI"S I dug

I have an f70 that does a great job on separating trash from good targets especially when I can use the slow speed setting. Thanks Tom for your comments.

It may not seem like much to many of you but it is a great find for me. The AT PRO has proven to be wonderful at unmaking coins in trash. My hunting buddy and I have been detecting an old Fairgrounds for the last three years. We have found many coins from Large cents to seated and barber coins to mention a few. I have hunted with my Minelab SE and recently my AT PRO. My buddy uses his Minelab SE.

I am using the ATPRO and will dig about any deep mid tone. I have found some nickles that were not the 53 VDI you usually look for..

I was having a hard time hunting with my buddy and getting discouraged with my success. He was going behind me and finding old coins I had missed. I would even sweep over his target before he dug it and would get a solid reading. I could not figure why i had missed that target. After reading some suggestions from a previous query I tried them this evening with remarkable results. In just 30 minut

Went out this evening for a couple of hours at a local park. No great finds with the AT PRO but ir worked like a charm Using The coin mode because of the high amount of junk I managed 70 cents in clad and a Darth Vader ring that may be silver plated, I had fun. I have a 8 inch target to dig tomorrow since it got dark on me. Take care and good luck hunting
