How about a new type of nail board test/recovery speed test

I've seen all the nail board tests out there but they are always done with the nails and coins on the same level.

I was wondering for those of you that do youtube videos, if someone could setup some kind of 3 dimensional test. Maybe a coin in the ground and a nail above and slightly to one side or even multiple targets. I could just be place on the top of a plastic cup or any non-metallic object to raise targets at different levels.

That would seem to emulate real world conditions better than the standard type tests that we see and I bet outcomes would be quite different and interesting.

I don't really do videos but I know some of you do.

P.S. I'm not just talking about recovery speed tests but and all around test of the detectors id'ing capabilities in these conditions.

I have done the very same test you are talking about, all you need is a small rusty nail. For instance...take what ever favorite machine and sniper coil and go find a coin in the wild, pull out your nail and see how far you have to place the nail away from your newly found coin......easy to find out!

It would be interesting to see how different machines would do under those conditions.

Kind of like the test garden in Tom's first DVD. The "Inland coin" one with the rust above the targets and the one with bottle caps or pulltabs (can't remember) placed above and around the coins.

That is a very informative DVD.

I have 4 different ones I use, foam blocks work great.
I glue my old bent rusty nails on with amazing goop.
Coin on the bottom gooped in place,my cz6a beats everything else I have.
My compadre fails miserably, Tejon with 5.75" concentric is a fair step below my cz6a with 8" coil.
I sold my 5" coil for my cz's like 20 yrs ago with a cz7. I gotta get another one because if the 8"
beats my other machines with there small coils?

I have the usual nail board from Monte. I also put together a setup some others have shown. I thought there was a youtube with it but I couldn't find it. I just used some 2x4 wood with the bottom piece about 14-16 inches long for stability and two more layers of shorter pieces leaving maybe a 3-4 inch gap between them. A coin can be placed on the blocks in the middle with nails on top, one side, any level next to a coin, etc. and then try different machines and coils to check their performance. I don't have a picture so hopefully the diagram will help illustrate it. The Xs are the 2x4s stacked and glued together and the Os are shorter 2x4 blocks that fit in the gaps that can be removed for trying different depths.

"Gene Finland" has Youtube vids that show this.

Here's the Racer by itself, both two tone and three tone:

Here's the Racer in two tone, following the same test with the XP DEUS:

He's on this forum, but I don't recall his username right now.

This is one of the videos I saw that I copied the idea from.

Perhaps ball park and certainly respect Monte and all his testing etc....however just not going to even come close to objects buried for 50-100 years ought to cover it...

Revealing ain't it tab. Machines that test good with everything on the same plane, well that don't mean squat when you simulate
a more real world 3d test.
Cz's kick butt.
