4/13/16 poll: Tarnished silver or clean silver?

Which do you prefer? Old tarnished silver, or, clean silver? Answer WITH or WITHOUT explanation if you would like to

Depends on the item, coins, leave them tarnished. Jewelry, shine it up.

Leave the silver coins tarnished. Never polish silver coins.

I like to clean them even spit clean them but if it's so tarnished you can't see the beauty of the coin then there are ways to clean it and not harm it..

Clean, even coins. In my soil they come out mostly untarnished anyway, but if I found a tarnished one I would have to give it a delicate cleaning to bring out at least some of that pretty shine.

I like the clouded look on silver coins. I don't know why. Maybe because it makes them look old. I dunno.

If they are too tarnished, to0 close to black then a little buffing to highlight details and all is good.

I like the silver jewelry nice and shiny.

For my own pleasure I like to see the piece in the condition it was recovered in. Though lately I have had to polish up jewelry for getting a decent vote from our club members who are dazzled by the great finish others put on their finds. There is a pleasure in seeing it go from gun metal drab to mega bling zing! So my answer is it depends.

Key dates are left as is. All the rest are cleaned. If Silver ever goes up like it was a few years ago, it all goes.

I leave them tarnished, but will rinse off any dirt. HH jim tn

I like for them to look the way they come out of the ground. So most of my coins have dirt still on them.

Mostly rinse the dirt off.

The results?

8 tarnished
6 cleaned

An almost 50/50 ratio. I like my silver coins cleaned(meaning rinse off the dirt).

Clean, perhaps a bit of patina. If they're corroded or blackened, most of the value is shot anyhow, so I use Tarnex or baking soda to at least try to get the crud off and get a bit of detail.

I love that look of heated metal mercs get in my soil,some.
Kind of a blued look of the Belgium A5 Browning's.
