Gold jewelry is usually in water...lost while swimming or frolicking...games and such in water....Am sure some is lost on beach but majority in water....

gold is where its lost.........my bet, there is far more on the beach than in the water. Target ratio may be less in the water thou. Depending on the sand......... if its fluffy or a hard pan will make a difference on if the target got found. At least in fresh water you can work the shallow water with a single freq machine that isnt waterproof if you are careful. Which can give you an advantage over a multi freq for the smaller targets. Chains........well it is what it is. Those are the biggest challenge for a detector. Finding gold jewelry ......... is like the range on a detector. You just have to cover/grid the area and have patience.

Depends upon the population. We have one beach visited by the hundreds each weekend, many detectorists hunt the dry sands in the evening when the crowd thins.
Funny thing most walk away empty handed except for some trash. Folks leave their jewelry in their cars or stuff it in their carry bags before slathering on sun screen.
Or place their gold in the footwear they wear onto the beach hopefully they don't all wear flip-flops. Most are smart enough to not shake out the sand along with the gold
went getting ready to pack up and go home. Its also a very tough beach to come away with coins. You would figure much coinage is lost with the beach restaurant and several bars/eateries
also along the beach. The water gives up more gold and jewelry if the generally rough water deep sand conditions don't swallow it up down deep within the sandy bottom.

Common sites at the beach.

Guys don't always pay attention to their detecting. Might be part of the problem.

Gotta love beach hunting........quite the verity of treasure to be found. That maybe why some are swinging their detector 3 ft off the ground lol.
