E-Trac replacement coil?

Hi,

Just bought a used E-trac...the 11" coil is intermittent,think the cable is bad at the coil.
I'm wanting to replace it but not sure what's the best way to go...should I buy a minelab original 11" coil or put the money into a after market coil?
What coil would you guys suggest if I go that route?
Any advice would be appreciated....

What's the symptom from the coil?

They can go at the coil end as you said.
But remove the coil from the shaft, attach to the coil plug and tighten.
Then in careful hand lengths, bend and flex the cable gently.
If the break is 'high' then it will become apparent quickly.
It's closest to the coil that's the difficulty in trouble shooting.
The Threshold will stop of cut out when the break is detected.

I'd opt for the Genuine E Trac coil.
If cost prohibitive then from what I've seen others do is getting a SEF 12"

What a dilemma,,,,no shortage of choices with the etrac and the stock coil is a great performer.
Sunray's 12" would be a good substitute as well as the NEL Hunter coil.
All sorts of mid size coils , my favorites are the NEL Sharpshooter and the SEF 5x10wss.
Small coils have the same range of choices but I prefer the 4.5 x 7 Excellerator.
You have a problem ahead of you

The sef coils are good,,heavier than some of the competition.

For cleaner ground a 10x12" will do,,but more cluttered sites a6x8" a better choice.

I've used both of these a bunch,,very good performance.

13" Ultimate coil would be a good replacement.

Totally agree, once I had the 13" Ultimate Coil by Detech it never came off. Almost the same weight as the stock 11" Procoil and the separation is great for such a large coil, very stable too.
