I think something is coming from them very soon.

Maybe he is testing one of their units.

Yep, I think so.

We'll see.

A late summer very early fall release of a super unit= marvelous.

And just think of the data we might see from NASA Tom.

I understand they have a new multi-freq machine coming out in December 2012. Is this the sort of surprise you're wanting?

Ahhh, the memories. I'm dectorless right now. Sold my AKA Signum last year and their MF offering is probably coming at years end.
But I tell you what, if FT comes out with a MF offering, I would try that out first. A bit of nostalgia and not to mention one of the best, if not the best, designers in the world.

They would rule the detecting world with a dual freq metered machine waterproof to 10 or 20 feet.
Seems no one wants to make this machine because it would halt most other machines from selling.
Hell even a waterproof refresh of the CZ7 with a new look and modern display with more tones and ID numbers.

Yes they would. I started a thread on Find's CZ forum years ago and Dave jumped in and was really interested in what we had to say about an MF machine.
He all but said they were working on one. We all thought it would be out in 2014 or sooner! Maybe we are finally there?

My understanding CZ's provide a lower profit margin thus don't hold your breath...

It maybe to late for them to get hordesthumbs up of us to buy their machines

All they need to do is make the detector. Keith will sell it with a video.

If 1st Tex made a deal with Ikelite and stuck an F19 in a waterproof box it would be all over for the competition.

Yeah, that was true but I'm not sure about the newer CZ's. I think the old ones were all tuned by hand and the parts might have been growing scarcer. (Forget exactly what it was that I read.)
But, I'm sure with tech moving on, there would be ways to make new high tech CZ's profitable enough relative to other machines.

I mean there is the profit aspect but there is also the pride aspect and I think it would be really really nice for FT to revisit the tech.

Thats a perfectly true statement, but we have too remember that these top detecting design folks wont be around for ever,so we just hope of course they are around for a very long time, but as far as i can see no high profile technical gurus are coming along to replace them.Of course i could be wrong but no new outstanding names are mentioned,Tesoro is a classic example since Jack Gifford retired and since passed away he basically was Tesoro and they have never really recovered.

The top designers and they are few and far between can in a sense demand top dollars and go to the company that pays the best,of course i could well be wrong but i dont think i am,the same names that are always have been mentioned for decades Jack Gifford,Carl Moreland ,Dave James,Bruce Candy and Eric Foster these are the legends and just these few guys have produced possibly the all time greatest detectors between them.

First Texas has a strong team of mostly young detector engineers. I'm reasonably sure the same is true of Minelab.

These days it takes a firm grasp of digital electronics and sophisticated signal processing software to design something new in "detectorville"

In the US, that kind of talent gets sucked up in the defense industry and Silicon Valley.

First Texas has the advantage of being in El Paso. Due to US Mexico trade relations, a thriving center of high tech (Mostly automotive and aerospace) electronics competence has developed with El Paso and the Mexican state of Chihuahua as its focus. They can get top talent from UT El Paso and the Technical University in Chihuahua City.

Simarlarly, Australia's relative isolation helps a high tech company like Codan - Minelab's psrent company, to attract top engineers.

Whites, Tesoro - not so much - Garrett - I know nothing about.

P.s. Trade issues are complicated - so solutions from people who don't like to think hard about anything - are probably not the correct solution.
