Hit an old standby site today because many of the fields here just haven't been cut yet but much to my surprise I pulled the oldest coin I've found in 5 yrs of hunting this specific site today thumbs down

1835 Bust 1/2 dime = a little flattened/outta round with a hole but I'll take it.

Also a 1870s saw nut (pat. dec. 31 1867)

Not shown is a bone button I found as an eyeball find, a pistol ball, and some lead/brass/copper doodads & junk.

HH all,

Nice!! Love the old silver. You did Much better than me. I got a butt kickin' by my buddy with a TDI. I think he dug 12 minie balls to my 4. But I did get an artillery shell frag.

Congrats on the 1835 half dime.
That date matches my oldest U.S. coin after nearly 7 years of detecting in California on the San Francisco peninsula.
1835 extremely corroded large cent.
1845 seated dime
1859 seated quarter, half dollar, and extremely worn fat Indian penny

Getting a silver coin that old should be possible on the San Francisco peninsula, but seems quite elusive for me.

Congrats again on the Bust half dime.

It is, 1700's reales have been found in, and around San Francisco. I've found two bust coins in California, a half dollar and a dime, oldest coin I've found in CA is a 1776 reale, albeit in socal not norcal.

Yeaaaa boy! Capped bust! I was saying to RodPa last week we need to find us some bust coins. When you find one of those, you get that old coin feel just looking at it...at least here in the US anyway. Great find MRH.
