Equinox user positive short review from Minelab owners forum

I was commenting that all posts up to the release are all speculative and having now handled and used the detector for over five hours on an actual dig I can say that this detector is going to be a winner.

Its selectable single frequency like all VLF's (XTerra, Deus, Impact, etc but the big plus is that at a press of a button it becomes a multi frequency machine.

Very fast and so sharp on tiny items. I was finding the shot from a 12 bore cartridge and very deep with a lead token about the size of your quarters at 13"/14". Also pulling out bits of bronze deep from a heavily hunted area. Also in the same area found my first hammered coin with it a tiny Elizabeth First farthing.

For beach hunting you can select single frequency for the dry sand and multi frequency for the wet so again going to be an excellent beach hunting detector.

I would say that this is the first detector that has broken away from the repackaged new machines coming out all the time with the same technology inside a new fancy box.

Mal.

Can't wait to get mine in my hands. I think this is gonna be a multi freq low conductor monster that can work in the iron infested sites which could be a game changer as there currently isn't a multi freqer with adjustable reactivity.Unfortunately the ground here will be frozen solid by the time I get my Nox's. Looks like I'll have to make a trip down to SC to visit my sister and family and do some detecting down there.

I hope that it does work out fr Minelab.. they have needed a lightweight platform.. As for me.. I am not going to jump on the bandwagon.

I like my Deus very much... plus Minelab has that whole service and warranty issue to deal with before I will ever purchase another ML.

Minelab has taken a step in the right direction as far as repair work goes, they have opened a new repair center in Pennsylvania.

So the horror stories of the Kellyco repair center are a thing of the past?

I am getting one but I don't expect miracles from it.
I expect a Fast SALT water machine if it isn't that I am selling it.
Don't get me wrong I want it to have Depth accurate ID ETC ETC so I could retire my heavy CTX but having target trace and FE,CO is nice too.
I think Minelabs statement about making all single freq detectors obsolete might come back in bite them in the butt even with their fancy wording to get them out of it.

Thank you for sharing that review hastings.

This is your review? or one you copy and pasted from the MOF?

If this is yours, could you share the settings you used during the hunt as well? Any other insights on the interface/screen and settings are appreciated as well.

During one of the Mark Lawrie interviews, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PgG686ZNwg) he speaks of a charging pack being able to be hooked up to the Equinox to recharge the Li-ion battery WHILE you hunt. Did you see anything like this while you were there?

Did you see any sign of the larger or smaller coils? (15"x12" and 6")

Thanks,

Gonebeepin'

I copied this from an experienced detectorist called Mal on Minelab owners forum.
I think you would get your questions answered there.
Here's the link.
