opinion, what happens if the dollar is replaced with gold for a standard

if all currencies have gold as it's backing, been hearing a lot of take about dropping the dollar and going back to the gold standard , I would think gold would go thru the roof, thinking about selling some gold, I might hold off

i dont think fort knox has much gold left in reserve now .

OK lets say the value of the dollar gets so bad that the government passes a law that it is not legal for people to own gold. You have 6 months to turn it in or face legal action. This is your duty to save the dollar from folding........ Aw go ahead a sell now before it is too late.......lol

Not the dollar! It's tied more to oil than gold.

In the past, whenever the government wanted to print more money, they had to buy gold to make sure there was the equivalent amount in the coffers. Not any more....the Fed printing press is running full blast 24/7 and we aren't buying no where near the amount of gold we should.

It's an inflation hedge, but we aren't any where near an inflationary period....YET.
