I spent yesterday " culling" detectors.
January 20, 2018 02:02PM
There were 24 total found. These are the four I plan to keep.

AKA MFD is my go to detector.
Quest Q20 to loan to family or a quickie!
Sovereign Elite for beach work.
GP3500 for Culpepper extreme dirt.

I have a Nokta Impact coming and have ordered a Nox. Further culling may be in the future.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the impact, especially if you give it a try in Culpepper dirt or similar

What coils have you for the MFD George?

We have much in common as I also have a AKA machine (Sorex Pro) as well as a GP3500. I also love the Impact. I took the GP3500, Impact and Deus all to Culpeper not too long ago. I thought the Impact did well hitting some bullets at 8 - 10" deep using the IM40 coil. I think you will like this machine.

Sounds like you have a lot of money sitting there that you're not using. I've got the same problem, although not nearly as bad. I've got eight that I'd like to cull down to four but can't decide which ones to let go. The Sorex and the AT Gold have been my best VLF's for bad ground, along with the Relic Striker. They are the only VLF's that I've used that don't ID everything deeper than 6 inches as iron in Culpeper ground. And the F44 is a great inexpensive machine with the biaxial coil. Best of luck.

I am in a similar situation and currently have 23 detectors and about 47 coils, over the christmas period had though about off loading a few but that was about as far as it got, main machines that i still use on a daily basis are the Deus,Nexus MP and SE,TDI Pro,Crossbow PI,Mirage PI,Vaquero,T2 and Fisher TW-5 twin box,do still use the other machines for site specific use.Th amount of coils are some what a problem as well grinning smiley i have about 8 just for the TDI pro.

You still got that Nautilus DMC IV? That's a rare one.

If the Equinox announcement back in September didn't motivate you to sell, I don't know what would. The number of used detectors that has hit the market since then has been amazing. It's probably the biggest detector dump in history. I doubt used detector prices are going to push higher once the Equinox becomes available.

I found the stock coil is surprisingly very good, i've the 13" @6khz /14khz and it's a killer on open fields. There's a 10x6 @20khz coming to me this week, fingers crossed it's a good one.

Choppadude,
It is good to know the Impact can handle Culpeper. I have a piece of bedrock from Culpeper that I place a minnie ball on. Simple test to see if any VLF detector can hear it in discrimination. So far only my Blisstool can hear it. Will try it with the Impact. I live about 40 miles from Culpeper. My dirt is three bars.

After getting the Impact and 4 search coils, found it to satisfy most of my needs and hunting conditions as a non-waterproof detector.

DeepTech Vista X with 3 search coils.
Works for me

The problem with getting rid of or culling out detectors is that some point in time you wish you had it back. Maybe not because of its ability compared to the new ones, but more for the memories of what you dug with the old ones. Still wish I had my '64 Chevelle Malibu. Man did I have fun with it and scored some nice finds with it as well
