NEW MAKRO MULTI KRUZER FIELD TEST
January 26, 2018 08:56PM
Dilek at Makro has given the go ahead to share field test information on the new Makro Kruzer series. I was asked to field test the Makro Multi Kruzer. I only received the detector last week, so I've been working hard to test the machine as much as possible at various sites (salt water beaches, relic sites, parks, etc).

Here's a quick video I did of some of the testing, hopefully this will answer some questions you may have:

Thanks. It was on edge in the clump, so I believe it was.

Thanks for the video Brian. Anything special about the silvers as for why they were previously miss, like depth and or masking? HH jim tn

Hi Jim,

These short winter daylight hours suck, as I'd loved to shot the silver clips during the day time and let everyone hear what I was hearing (I wasn't expecting to hunt at night, so wasn't prepared for that). But there was a LOT of trash where I was detecting. This area is a park, and I was right off the edge of a soccer field, where people drink while watching the games as evident by the multitudes of screw caps, crown caps, pull tabs (old and new), deep cans, etc., it's littered with them.

The first merc was only 4" deep, but as I swung my coil over the ground I'd get many signals, but the silver in 4-TONE mode just sings out, so do copper pennies. Although that's pretty shallow, I'm amazed with all the detectors that have been through this area (it's fairly small) that nobody else (including myself with my previous detectors) heard it, it was a five star signal.

Zinc pennies are a decent sound, until they start to rot and then the signal is jumpy and the audio isn't as pure, but copper pennies and silver are unmistakable pure sounds.

The second merc was about 6" deep, but again lots of trash.

Brian

If I could chime in here: The first place he was detecting, was a large city's park here in CA, in a portion of that park that does not get much pressure from md'rs. It's the unkempt woodsy part of the park. So it's possible that the coins were simply signals that any machine could have gotten.

The 2nd park he was at, was perhaps one that more closely mimic's worked out turf. But as to whether they were signals that another machine could have gotten: Not sure. The only way to know for sure is if two machines are pitted side by side over flagged signals, and each person evaluate "would I have heard it?" etc....

Brian and I met up to test this machine about a week ago. We tried the wet salt beach first. But ... unfortunately ... the beach we thought was going to have some wet salt inter-tidal zone targets, had sanded in the night before. So we struggled just to get 4 or 5 coins and a few nail grunts. One flagged target that we both tried: he said he did not get a signal that he would have pursued. Yet on my explorer, I could confidently call "conductive target". Turned out to be a deep copper penny. So I would say the Explorer might be better on wet salt beach. However, as I say, our testing was thwarted d/t lack of many signals.

We were going to do turf after that (and compare flagged signals), but chose instead to do a relicky site. An adobe site /cellar hole type location that , in years past, has given up reales, early seateds, and buttons. There's one particular zone of this site that's a solid bed of iron nails, rust, etc.... I was using a Tesoro Bandito. And I think any signal that either of us got, the other one could equally hear it. But he was probably getting more depth than the Bandito can get.

This 2nd site was at night, approaching 40* cold. So ... I don't think we got to accurately compare flagged signals. Hopefully Brian and I can put it through some more paces in the weeks to come smiling smiley

Thanks Brian and Tom. I know under the video shooting circumstances there really is no way to know why the silvers were still there and as well, we all know that old detecting adage. Thanks again and good hunting to you both. You guys hunt some neat old spots. HH jim tn

would have liked to understand the programs and how they work on your video. How does all metal work as compared to the Impact.? The Gen is killer on the impact. And does it have some of the other features the impact has. Boost mode and isat and tone break and what can you do to change a program what are the settings like, how many settings can you change? The impact has a lot going for it but the new machine you are testing, I would hope to see some testers test it in the water. Is there a detector that hunts in creeks and salt water and lakes that has three freq...I think the new machine is going to be a big hit. And I wonder if a lot of Racer 2 fans are going to get it becasue it seems it is the little brother to the impact but can hunt in and under water. You are night hunting were you at Golden Gate Park....

I covered all the search modes, settings and options when I did the run down towards the end of the video, but yes it does have a DEEP/boost mode, iSat and tone break are still present, and work as they do on the Impact/Racers. I would love to test it in the water, but as you know we're in the middle of winter, but I definitely plan to test it at Clear Lake this summer as there's a ton of old swimming holes that need to be detected and this will do a great job. I know it's not the same as submerging it underwater for long periods of time, but I subjected it to hours of heavy rains, and it had no issues.

Nope wasn't at GGP with the evening hunt, but was at a city park that's been hammered. Was there again Sunday doing further testing, and got another merc and wheatie. They reworked the 4-TONE audio on this and when it hits silver, it sings out, love that they did that as the 4-TONE mode on the Impact (IMHO) is artificial/digital sounding, and I didn't enjoy detecting with it, but on the Kruzer it's a pleasure to use. I tested all of the Kruzer modes EXCEPT for GEN mode, as I simply don't detect in all metals mode on any of my detectors, so I wouldn't be the best qualified to assess it.

I'll be posting more field test videos, I'm putting together a mega road trip this month and will be showing further live digs as well as signal comparisons between it and an Explorer2, unless (almost zero chance) the EQ800 shows up and I can do head to head testing between them. That will likely not be happening until April as I don't see it showing up in the U.S. until OK.

Thanks for watching.

Hi Del ! The etrac & the Exp. II are identical, in performance, IMHO. Same machine, just different nuances, tones, whistles/bells. The etrac is just another incarnation/evolution of the Explorer Line. In fact, many hunters, who "upgraded" to the Etrac, ended up GOING BACK to the Exp. II. Because they preferred the sounds/tones of the II. But we'll cut to the chase and call it a "move sideways". haha

Yeah Brian and I have a friendly competition going. I'm perfectly willing to "switch to a new mousetrap". But tend to be slow to try out, experiment, etc... And I love how Brian does stay on top of "the news" of all technology in this hobby. I tend to simply find better spots (new research, driving further, etc...). Whereas Brian loves to try new mousetraps at old sites. Between the 2 of us, we've gotten some pretty good sites and finds.

Hey Tom----Yeah, I love to read about you & Brians adventures. You two make a well balanced team!thumbs down-------Funny how that is with the Minelabs (Explorers, Etrac & CTX).-----I've owned & used them all (XS, EX2, SE, Etrac & CTX).-----Before the advent of the Etrac, the EX2 was my favorite of the bunch.----I know a guy or two that to this day has stayed with the old XS---another that went back to the EX2 from the SE---yet another that went back to the Etrac from the CTX (for one or more reasons of their own).----One thing ALL those guys do have in common though--they have all made some excellent/MANY silver finds with these detectors.---We still have the Etracs & CTX's.---I like the CTX but for some reason just never have quite "bonded" with it like the Etrac.---My wife loves/prefers using the CTX & she does excellent with it.---I think I'm just too subconsciously "ingrained/in tune" with the sounds, reactions etc. of the older FBS units to do my best with a CTX.------You get in "iron city"--you pull out another type detector for this situation--like you do with your Bandito.-------Boy am I ever hi-jacking Brians post!grinning smiley---It's fun to talk about detectors though.------Anyway, if Brian ever sways you over/converts you to one of those detectors he's trying--be sure & let us know---I'm buying that detector!----I know you're a "hard sell" & that I really appreciate.smiling smiley-------------Del

That would make the next two mine spinning smiley sticking its tongue out
