Interesting airtest on a multitude of machines

This guy tests a lot of the machines that we routinely discuss here:

For those that don't want to watch the entire video, here's their results:

Too bad the coil sizes aren't in the table...

Table may help some. But the CF77 i.e. was airtested by Keith and said it was way out there..more than the chart suggests

i dont think this test is right

Is this the test where they use machines in factory default settings?, which are tame on some machines, like the Tek T2.

Seems Odd that the T2 is the shallowest detector of the group. Not known for being shallow.

The Deus not known for being the deepest , skome the T2 and F70. ???

Some detectors air test great or pass the nail coin surface test with ease but in mineralization or an iron laced site masking effects the detector, Now these same machines that scored high with air testing and surface nail coin test turned out to be poor performers when the coil hits the soil.

Seen it happen too many times, True test is out in the area one hunts that's were one see's the differences.

Something does seem incorrect with those results.

On the deus it depends how you program it. It is deeper in the ground than the air,

Mix in some soil, some iron, some moisture, some sun and every machine on that list wil change...so I would never buy a detector from an air test. Dig a hole throw in a coin cover the hole and hit it with a detector..I'm not a big fan of that type of testing....I like to hunt in the dirt not in the air....

The same folks did a similar test on gold detectors.

Don't look right to me.

Discrimination is the root of all evil.
Re: Interesting airtest on a multitude of machines

Unless coil sizes and/or settings account for it, I don't see the AT Pro dominating the F70 like the chart shows either. Several things here seem off...

I didn't feel like taking the time to watch the video. For whatever reason, these numbers are skewed.

And the T2 trails the pack, air testing over 4 inches less on a small coin the Nokta/Makro units?

Does the video poster, whom I assume is from Europe since he's posting in centimeters, have an agenda? I don't know, but something seems erroneous with these numbers.

Sure there is, Jimmy is Jiving aint he??? Seriously, the test may be skewed.

Ok I already have the MXT Pro and T2 SE2 so just send me your FORs CoRe, AT Pro, and Racer and I will do a another Airtest. Any other units you want tested send them out. Of course I can not guarantee how soon the will be returned winking smiley

Bryannagirl,
Funny how the mind works. Your posts got me to thinking. I wonder why on this forum there are not threads/post dedicated to things such a airtest between the different units. A post/thread sorta like Tom D's on the Fisher F75. And I can think of other detector criteria that could be tested and compared and posted in a likewise similar post/thread. Then when someone needs information or wants to view information, they don't have to spend so much time trying to find it. And these supposed threads can be kept up to date with new release detectors or detectors that go through maybe an upgrade process. And having a person like Johnny Anglo who visits/post here. He's great with charts/tables and such. He might be able to post the information once accrued in a more concise way.

Or maybe dedicated detector specific threads.

cheers

The challenge there are so many variables to control. Take swing speed the optimal swing varies not only by detector but by mode/process. Is the sweet spot for the coil be used - it is not always dead center. So I kind of understand why Tom is so careful about releasing any numbers. - they are hard to do correctly and fairly. But - I would love it if some did take the time to get the numbers on the top detectors. I would also like Monte Board results, and Keith's Brick and Test Garden results as well. smiling smiley

Hi,,,,My old hunting partner had a T-2 and I had an AT....He flat out spanked me in air tests and his separation capabilities in a field type scenario was phenomenal when compared to my AT....This is why I'm questioning this test a little .........JJ

They must have different air then we do..maybe smog effects the test???

I you like a comparison test, see url below, that is to my opinion more accurate (Although nothing mentioned about settings )
