f75 in hand need help for setup to test againest Nox..

I need help from you f75 guys. BEST way to set it up for separation and depth. I will be doing the same nail test I did with the AT GOLD and XP DEUS. I will also run it thru my test garden..

1n tones disc about 6 works best for me in heavy iron with 3 x 6 concentric coil or stock 5in. DE or FA process though Keith is saying the Boost process on the Tek t2 is working great.

Use single tone with disc to break up on nails.

Calabash....I assume when you turn on the Nox you do a noise cancel.

For that F75, make sure you run through the 7 different frequency checks F1 - F7 via holding down the red button and pushing the trigger foward. Stay in each one for 30-40 seconds and listen to which one sounds the cleanest. I know it's a pain (I do like units that have a auto noise cancel...cycling through my Infinium can be a pain in the butt).

The F75 is pretty sensitive to EMI so not sure what's running near your house but not having the F75 in the cleanest frequency can be less than optimal.

Also...gotta ground balance that baby.

As to what settings to run....there are a lot of options. What Welgund suggested is a great start.

11 inch DD coil I assume ?

The other day I ran the 5 inch coil on my F75 DST in DE mode, sens 95, 2 tone and it was a quite as a church mouse. No falsing or intermittent chirps. Hit a wheatie at 8 inches with it. Love that coil.

Contest is over--I just talked to my Psychic and she told me who the winner will be--and it's NO surprise.

BECAUSE I'm gonna post it on here and I figured it would be better to have one of the local experts tell me how to set it up. It will be going head to head with the Equinox. I don't want anybody saying I fudged the test and didn't have it set up correctly...

F75 = overly soil dependent on whether it goes deep or not. In inert low mineral soil, you can hunt in disc mode and it is a deep machine. Once the Fe mineral bars start stacking up to the 3 to 5 bar range, depth with ID goes out the window. The detector starts reporting all objects past certain depths as being iron...the more bars, the shallower/sooner this begins to happen. I've been in places where a coin or minie ball at just 4 inches was an all iron signal. Same goes for a breast plate at just 8 inches...all iron signal. Flip side to that is I've also been in low bar dirt where depth was decent and you could operate in disc mode. Those places were far and few between for me though. The only way I could get depth was motion all metal mode and dig everything that didn't give a fast zippy double beep.

If your soil is like mine, the clear winner hands down is going to be the Nox for separation and for depth. Its not even close.

I think Calabash Diggers soil is similar to Toms.

I'm not trying to master it. I just want to swing it over a few targets to show the f75 fans and Nox fans how it compares on certain test. My mentor had a t2 when we started hunting together and I just dont care for it. Not saying their not solid machines but just not for me. So I'm not putting in hours of learning . I'm gonna try these guys settings and another one or two and film it. Should have it done tomorrow or the next day.

Ok its not 2009 anymore... is it possible technology has went forward some since back then? We shall see..

Need to use the 11" factory DD coil on the F75, else it's a total apples to bananas test.

Pretty sure I'm in the same boat, mineralized soil out here is simply no match for the F75. It was a hard fact to swallow as was sure my F75 LTD (upgraded to LTD2) would be superior to my buddies with their Etracs and Explorers, but it simply wasn't the case, as they had superior mineral handling capabilities in most of the places we were detecting. Don't get me wrong, it was great to a degree, but it sure sucks to get half the keepers you buddies are getting on a consistent basis.

Good on you Calabas for doing the test.

That's the word on the street, so it may do just fine out there, as Tom's able to get dimes at 12" w/the F75. I can barely get a stable TID on a dime at 6" out here on the F75 sad smiley

thanks, it will be stock coil on the F75..

The F75 likes a brisk sweep speed. I hope you don't make another slow sweep F75 video like so many out there. You should at least make an effort to use the F75 properly.

I believe in one of NASA Toms notes on the F75 he said the unit in disc of 6 and mono tone was the best for unmasking in a ferrous environment.
