They need to make some changes to the 8500. I had the 8000 and it like it. When the 8500 was released, I had to have one. I thought great, an 8000 with added features! Kinda like the Racer (which I have) and then the Racer 2 being released (which I have). I had to try the Racer 2 so I bought it and I'm glad I did. Still have both Racers and they are excellent detectors. The 8500 was a big let down for me. So many false signals and a chopped audio made it impossible to pick out actual targets from all the extra noise. I sold the 8500 in short order and have my 8000 coming back to me. The 8500 was feature packed, so now if they can just get it to work, it should be a really nice detector for the money.
