Congrats on the Franklin ½, those don't come around very often for me. I've found more Walking Liberty ½ dollars than Franklins.

Just my second Franklin in over 30 years myself. I don't know why they are so rare to dig?

I have found more Flying Eagles than Franklin's and they were only minted 3 years with millions less struck.
My theory; a hole in your pocket starts off small and will leak the smaller coins before you discover the hole. Then the woman of the house will sew it up whilst she also darns your socks. Not sure how men carried their coinage back in the 1800's,... that could blow my goofy theory.

On the Franklin half discussion. I don't know if the same holds true for other areas of the country but in this area, people held onto to the Franklin halves for souvenirs instead of spending them. Don't have a reason or explanation for why they like that particular coin but I know many people that literally have dozens and dozens of them that aren't "coin collectors" per say. A guy I work with came to me about some coins he had got from his recently deceased uncle. He is a gun guru and has a gigantic safe for them. He showed me a picture of the coins he had gotten and they filled the whole top portion of his safe. He said most were...you guessed it...Franklin half dollars. He said he quit counting at 200 of them and still had bunches more to go through. So my theory is...not only was the run short on them...but a lot of people simply held onto them and stashed them away instead of carrying them to spend. People held onto them and those $2 bills for some reason.

It seems like everyone and their Brother is finding Half Dollars lately.

I think Being Franklins are not as old most were shallower and easy big targets even for the vintage detectors. So they were sucked dry pretty quick. I only got 3 in 16 years. Also this goes to show no matter how much you hunt a site still some left.

I lucked into a good little area. I'm not sure how deep the Franklin was since it slid out to one side. But my digger went 7 to 8 inches and it had to of been toward the bottom of the plug to slide out? Otherwise it would have been inside the plug. Just wasn't expecting that! Almost called it a can.......

Harold - I voiced my opinion about a certain relic hunting YouTube channel and about had people coming after me with torches and pitchforks. People get testy when you tell them their videos suck and that they are only doing them for attention. Haha.

Kenny I think yours are great. There are some out there though that get on my nerves.

Yes - The fisheye lens captures more than expected. I hope nobody knows where this park is? Maybe I should have just kept all my footage until I covered the whole park? Tough call.....

If I was doing for the attention I would be in my Speedo so all could see my ripped body and Pinpointer. But I choose to keep "low key" After all I just can't have a lot of women stalking me at all the parks. I gotta hunt!
