Got to dig those 92-93 locks on the F 75

Went to a old playground this afternoon. It's been hunted hard.I got off in one corner and said where would I go play if I was a little boy in this playground.I headed for the end of a hedge that was by an exit for the playground.Went all of about 3 feet,bang,92-93 hightone lock. One 1972 Eienhower dollar in great shape.I know it's not silver but finding dollar coins could get addicting. That was the only coin I found there.I found some clad and a 1916 S wheatie. The wheatie IDed on 56.I have got to line up some new places to hunt.I've been unable to contact the owners of quite a few old homestead/farm/ranch houses. They are all out combining.

Yes, The EXACT reason to dig those 53 - 59 VDI readings. This is exactly where Indian Head pennies........... and early (teen's) Wheat pennies will ID. It's also where silver Trimes, Gold Half Eagles, tokens, buttons...... etc.......... will ID. You almost found a silver dollar!

Tom I get very few locks or even close to ID number locks in the 50's range. If it locks it has been aluminum.Bill

Bill,

Are you saying that coins do not "lock" on a ID number..... especially those IH's and early teen's Wheat's that are in the 50's VDI range?

Tom I consider a "lock on" as a variation of about 3 numbers, higher or lower with the target centered.Sweeping back and forth at a slow to moderate sweep. Also if you make short fast sweeps"the CZ wiggle" over the center of the target the numbers don't bounce from say 52 to 91.The bounce in my soil is a junk target.

Bill, sounds like your specific mineralization comes into 'play' a bit more than norm........ possibly being a primary vs. secondary ID accuracy factor.
