I found the One Ring with my Tesoro Compadre

Yep, its true. When I got back into town last week I grabbed my Compadre/Cleansweep combo and took off to a jewelry site and one of the targets I recovered was a gold ring. Woohoo I got excited until I got it in my hand. The weight was off. Ok...so... on again off again gold / no gold, gold / no gold.

Later in the day I got it home and put the glass on it. Ohhh it has writing inside the band in a silver script. Wait....it has writing on the outside of the band in silver script too. wheres the mint mark. No mint mark. Don't recognize the script, all foreign to me. So I'm carrying it around in my pocket coon fingering it for a couple of hours when it finally comes to me. My precious. But its gold? Did anyone make a real gold Precious ring? So I googled and yep...They make gold plated stainless and gold plated tungsten Lord of the Ring rings. They also make it in gold too, but the weight of this one tells me it is plated, most likely the stainless variety. I think tungsten would be heavier.

Yeah....I put it on. Nothing happened.

Mike I saw someone on another forum post the same LOTRs ring they found that was actually gold.

Even the non-gold ones have value if their in good condition.

Wow! And You found it with a outdated one knob Tesoro? How can that be? No fancy digital meter and tones? Come on Mike surely You were using a Nox or Deus? Ha!

Big Congrats! Using the Tesoro Compadre and Cleansweep search coil together is a deadly combo that makes all other detector brands obsolete when it comes to finding gold rings. lol

The Compadre is a nice little beep dig unit. I just set the disc with the little dial tip just touching the o in iron and dig whatever goes beep. The Cleansweep on the Compardre is good for about a 7" nickel with good batteries. Very nice in the late fall and winter when the grass height is lower than normal.

Guess I need to make time to fix my ground balance pot on my Golden Sabre II so I can start using it, too. The thing air tests fine but add any ground signal and it just screams. I think the ground balance variable resister is busted as it makes no difference adjusting it.

yeah! humor us,and tell us you found it with the "latest and greatest!"aren't tesoros supposed to find "license plates" and tons of "big iron" but not silver dimes!,'what?. you found "gold" with a tesoro?..heaven forbid,what's the world coming to?..why! i know people who own 'cibolas" that actually DO find silver dimes! ..i don't get that! ..(w.t.f.!)

Tesoro.....the company that didnt fix what wasnt broken. Many photos of relic hunter Butch Holcombe (founder of American Digger magazine) with a Tesoro Cibola. The Compadre is a great detector.

I have a part-year neighbor who has found astonishing relics form the fur trade and Indian wars in the northern high plains. He is in fact a board member of the Museum of the fur Trade in Nebraska- P.S. - don’t miss it if you are up that way.

He uses a “Troika” - 3 Tesoro’s with cleansweeps towed behind his trike, when they hit something - he hops off and investigates. thousands of acres of private land under permission and fabulous finds. All documented and not lost to history in a dusty drawer.

Tesoro’s are good tools. Peace be upon Jack Gifford for giving them to us.

I found a 2nd century silver Ronan coin in a scrap yard in Saudi Arabia with one. OK, it was on the surface, but the Tesoro hit it.
