You bought that sweet Cobra II on the bay?
Man it was clean and I was tempted.
They have CZ type depth and awesome Modulated audio.

Couple of years ago there was a beautiful Treasure Baron (red) on fleabay, had all the right modules and the price was low (something like $350 IIRC).

I asked Paul CA about it, he's sharp on all the older machines and does amazing mods on his massive collection of detectors. He said it was OK in its day, but now it was pretty outdated, and the likes of the F75 and Racers were far superior machines.

Still, thought it would be fun to play around with one, they had a cult following and it's a shame that this page died:

The one I had was deep in My mild to moderate ground.
Maybe not as fast as the latest and greatest, But as far as depth it could hold its own with today's digitals like the F75 as had a couple of those too. Paul sure had a lot of them so must have liked something about them.

Yes I did Harold. I have owned all the different Barons. Loved the tone I.D. and tone break. Yes tone break way back in the day. What I liked most about them they did very well in my iron infested sites. Thought I would take a stroll down memory lane and check some good signals that a more modern detector would find. The memory is starting to fade now.

JB has left the building but Paul is an Old Friend who is someone folks should pay attention to. And many do including myself.

Paul is awesome. He is a unique combination of knowledge and experience; coupled with patience, generosity and a sense of humor.

The only rear mounted modules that Discovery Electronics put out were Ni-Cad rechargeable,Deep Hunter and Black Sand. The Cobra II and Viper had the Ni-Cad rechargeable components on the circuit board.
