For some units sold new previously here’s one way to be out of specs.

"I understand that Tom Dankowski can certify depth in his mild Florida dirt and properly calibrate a cz that is out of tune. He has done so multiple times for me. But he can do very little to improve depth when he tunes them. Usually, just a few tenths of an inch, if any".

If that's the case, then why are some CZ detectors deeper than others?

Sort of like a tuneup for your car....usually adds some depth that varies depending on your unit...over the years have heard of good results from varied detectorists...come to think of it never read of bad results....which ought to tell you something....

For some odd reason some He can some He can't. I got about an extra 3/4" out of mine which was fairly hot from jump. Now it is super hot. But it also had a slight audio smear at the edge of depth now it is nice and tight. Also some categories were off in enhanced mode and He fixed that. Worth the cost for sure.

Factories can’t do that kind of hand tuning of dozens of trimmers on each unit and still produce thousands of units a month. That’s the bad news.

The good news is that more modern designs don’t have the trimmers in the first place. Most of the processing is done in software and fewer discrete components make for less of a “tolerance stack” issue in the first place.
