Man Daniel, you must of misread a branches position. Us non climbers have to fell a tree with the branches on verses climbers who can cut them off from the top down. Some branches come under tension and when de-branching, you have to read the positions like a puzzle so they don't knock our heads off or break our shins in half. Tree cutting is a dangerous job. How are you eating? Liquids? Yikes! weight loss. Hope you heal well, could have been worse.

I got 30 years oh detecting under my belt so that makes me a superior detectorist!!!!! ..lol eye rolling smiley Some guys that have that much time dont even know how to cut a pin pointer on...eye popping smiley .Its true I have not been detecting for ever..... but if you guys ever want to see my collection that I have accumulated just me know....What I have done is educated my self on detectors and NOT just relied on what others told me.

You guys make fun of the yard testing but it has saved me Hundreds of hours that I didnt have to waste on outdated sub par bull crap out. All you old guys need to get your self a test garden and a few of these fancy pants new age detectors and put them up against the dinosaurs you got hid in your closets.... Yhall might just have a awakening...

Some people catch on to thing faster than others too...Sports would be a great example some rookies run circles around the OLD pros...I do get it though these guys were hunting back in the day when silver was almost laying on top of the ground or the relic sites were first discovered and you could dig five gallon buckets of them. BTW it is a lot harder on us relic hunters today as we are hunting behind generations of other hunters....NOTICE we are still finding the goods...

I have a test garden...have had one for decades. My CZ6a still hits ALL the targets, including an 10 inch merc dime that NONE of the new age, new fangled units (Deus, Multi Kruzer, F75, V3i, etc.) can hit no matter what settings, frequencies, coils, I use.

The only units that can hit that dime and ID correctly are my 2 CZ6a's, my CZ3D and my E-Trac. AND...the CZ hits them with an 8 inch coil.

No awakening needed here.

Like I stated earlier....horses for courses. I don't need a fancy pants new age detector to find the targets I am hunting for. I am fine n dandy with a dinosaur. Especially one that can stand up to salt water beach hunting and actually work for more than an hour before crapping out.

You could have been a MASTER Expert on a rotary phone back in the day. NOW when I put a iPhone 10 x in your hand does that automatically make you a MASTER expert on it???? Really if we both buy a Iphone 10 x our learning curve starts at the SAME place even though prior to that you were a expert on the rotary phone. Which guy will become more proficient with the phone depends on some factors..... Learning ability, time spent with new phone, actual usage on new phone, etc...…

What does a CZ3D and a Equinox 800 have in common operational wise other than they both shoot a beam into the ground...not much so 20 years on a CZ3D probably aint gonna make you automatically better with the 800 over a rookie who has been detecting under 5 yrs...I got 40 yrs detecting experience and I say so what....show me what you found lately...

BTW If you have gotten older and cant get out as much be mindful not to set on the sidelines and throw rocks at the ones who are still able to do so. I will be the old guy one day if I live long enough pecking on the keys on the forums BUT I hope I am not like some of you guys on this forum who try to tear down anyone who disagrees with your under dog detector mentality..... I hope I am the old fart tech savy dude!!!!!

Ozzie - I was cutting one up that had fell during a storm the night before. All was good as I was cutting the branches off then WHAM. Soon as I cut through one, another one drilled me right in the mouth. No time to duck or dodge. Oral surgeon was able to put the ones that were bad out of alignment sorta back to where they went. Enough that I could close my mouth. He put composite on them to keep them from moving as much (glued them to the steady teeth beside the bad ones). I'm on a soft food diet for 3 weeks. They said following that, that they prob will have to do root canals on all the teeth that had trauma. I've only ever had one cavity and never a root canal so I'm a bit bummed. Coulda been a lot worse I reckon.

I had a CZ7 and it was a decent detector probably is still good even today.
The only downfall I remember is it loved deep bent nails.

Dang Daniel! I guess you don't need the Keto diet now to lose weight. I have had gum disease for years so have to go to the dentist every 3 months for cleanings if I want to keep my teeth. Like You only had one cavity but if your gums are bad then your teeth fall out. Lucky for Me My cousin married a dentist and gives me a family discount as I don't have dental coverage. I have had about a half dozen deep cleanings as those suck too. But knock on wood never had a root canal but hear they are no fun an expensive as heck.
Good Luck.

Calabash, That was nice of you to do that on this forum.

Every time I see a good condition DFX for sale at a good price I get froggy, then remember I have a V3 and there is no point in dealing with the impulse buy blues I'd get if I bought one.

The question about Etrac vs jewelry? It is a VERY good jewelry detector in my opinion.

Sorry about your accident, Daniel. I'm filing that info away for self protection next time I got to wack a tree.

Daniel,

Good to hear you are ok after that. My prayers go out for you for your quick recovery.

One time I was cutting down a big maple. Was using a big old Mcculloch chainsaw. Had to pump the oil with my thumb as it was cutting. Anyway the tree came down backwards and took the chainsaw with it and the end of the tree pushed it into the ground. I was able to get out of the way and thought the chainsaw was destroyed but after I got it out of the ground it was still ok. Things can go wrong when you are cutting trees.

the cz's are damn fine instruments.responsible for finding tons over the years.
one of the most "simple" units to operate. ask dankowski! a "nasa" engineer!

beware the man who 'knows" just "one" detector( no matter the brand) for he is
a very worthy adversary in the field, for he has "learned" that instrument over time, and
his level of proficiency is unmatched.

hot damn! ole' cal! you are a '"difficult" one!..i think somebody
dropped you on your squash when you was very young! you don't even know the status of any detector
right outta the gate!..you gotta work with it,and as i said ya gotta commit to learning the audio nuances so you can become
proficient with it in the field! ..do yourself a favor and 'forget " air tests"...think you been usin' too much of your product again.

If a detector cant hit a silver dime at 9 inches with EASE in my test garden then I have no use for it and of course a few nail test.. There are enough guys on hear to ask how to set the thing up if I dont know how. Guess what I didnt WASTE a 100 hundred hours trying to learn the thing.

This is exactly why I follow your posts mate - >grinning smiley<

I was a noob (relatively) when the Racer was first released & fortunately for me I
was given a chance to review the Racer BEFORE its launch into the US -

I wrote a review based on my experience with the product and posted my findings.
I was then immediately slammed by many of these metal detectorists who had 20 to 30yrs experience
with statements like "who are you" - "you are a nobody" - "that red detector looks nothing more than a toy" etc -
All from these self appointed experts who beleive time put in, directly relates them to being an expert in the
industry -

What I believe is that many of these OLD enthusiasts are blinded by their dedication to a brand/model as opposed
to actually seeing the new technology for what it is and what it does -

Yes, to all you OLD tire kickers who got it so wrong on the Red Racer_it appears to me you not only got it wrong
on the detector but also got dealt to by Nokta-Makro in a big way - Just like this noob called it way back then -

But don't get me wrong_I have learnt so much from three guys I hold close, who have spent their lifetimes in this industry
and I hang off their every word_Then there are the many other members of forums I simply admire for the knowledge they pass on.
Unfortunately we have some really old enthusiasts who do not like change especially when it comes from a company they don't
support, then it becomes childish banter on experience vs everything else_

I like quick learners myself thumbs down

I am not even gonna start that metered machine dinosaur argument crap this morning about a CZ...Can you say ETRAC, EQUINOX, CTX 3030, if I was a coin hunter I would be swinging one of those three. The Anfibio is a good unit and another advantage it has is I can dunk it to 16 ft..
