Thanks, I'll take a few pics. It's a one off dig, hopefully it throws up some nice finds.

Yup, Killyleagh castle for sure, confirmed with Google image.

If the place has been heavily hunted in the past, I would avoid the lawns and hit the more difficult areas such as under those trees and bushes. Any bare ground you can find.

Yes Killyleagh castle, it was a lovely setting but finds were scarce for me, just the way it goes i suppose.
There was a gold ring, gold snake button, I think 3 or 4 hammered silver and the usual 1700 onwards coppers and buttons etc
There was 100 detectorists swinging, so I guess I was one of the lucky ones as was my mate to hit hammered silver using the Nox.
I dug plenty of signals, and still need to go through my finds pouch.
Still a very enjoyable day out, the raffle prizes were good and so was the company.

Lots of deep targets in those fields I'll bet. Equinox 800 in Gold mode would be the way to go for that place.

There was a few deep targets between the iron patches, the folded copper item on the right in the previous pic above was pinpointer deep.
The lead item below it is thought to be votive axe head, i need to drop it into the museum to check it out, if correct it would probably predate the castle.

Congratulations on the opportunity of detecting such an old site, truly moments to cherish.

I’m no expert, but I think the miniature votive axe head is vintage jewelry, either single or part of several miniature pieces stung on a necklace or wrist band, terrific finds!
