3 reasons to buy a Garrett AT Pro...

1. Honesty of signal - I dig very little iron with the AT Pro. So far, more with the Equinox. Caveat: over 8 years with the Pro, less than 8 weeks with the Nox.

2. Shorter learning curve. The Equinox does well with the preset programs. But when you go beyond the presets, there's more to learn than on the Pro.

3. Cost - Give or take, an AT Pro costs a good $100 less than the 600 and about $300 less than the 800.

None of this means I don't think the Equinox is a splendid detector. Less than 2 months is a short time to judge, but my silver coin count per hour has gone up notably with the Nox. Anyone who argues that the Nox doesn't have more sock than the Pro is either delusional or has a defective machine. Or user error.

I just don't understand why Garrett gets the Basher so worked up. I could easily give you 3 reasons to buy the Equinox over the AT Pro but when the 3 reasons are nothing more than the syllables in the word "Equinox" that's just being a troll. Did they refuse to supply him with equipment gratis? Does he have a grudge against one of their shills? Is he upset because his publicity hungry mug isn't on any videos on their website? Or maybe because his picture has never been in their calendar? LOL

John, I think you finally said something Cal would agree with!

I’ve always favored the AT-Gold over the AT-Pro, Although I enjoyed the AT-Pro both are extremely good detectors but in my area and type of hunting the Gold handles mineralization pretty good. Especially all metal, for fresh water black sand or tougher inland soil.

Never tried the Max model, maybe someday.
