Hi Aaron...I'm not an expert on these relic type things but I don't believe it's a lightning rod top....It looks to be made of steel possibly it's a top off from a flag pole or similar type pole......JJ

Hi JJ,

I know it may look like steel ,buts theres actually a green patina on it. I should have photographed the scrape on it from my digger, the metal is orange under there...pretty sure its copper.
