I have a deep seeking Fisher 1266x with 3 coils it's one of the ones with the twin stacked boards. It comes with the 4" & 8"& 10-1/2" coils. I'm open to cash offers and trade offers. Thanks Morgan

Just curious how can you tell a twin board model? They the older white lower rod ones?

The serial number is a lower number. Another way of telling is the battery packs has wired plug ins where the newer ones had drop in battery packs. And the early ones came with white coils.

1266 very deep relic machine. Early one had the white spider coil. Just had to know how to decode the snap, crackle, pop sounds. Easiest way to smooth out the 1266 is to use the 8" solid white coil from the 1265. I preferred the newer, later version with drop in battery packs...no wires to break. The very first version of the 1265 actually shared coils with the 1260, had a different style coil connector....push in type, then locked in with half turn. Later all coils....1235, 1265, 1266, and 1270 were interchangeable. The under-rated 1260 I think even had a threshold adj knob. Author Micheal Chaplan is shown using one of the early Fisher X models in his Urban Treasure Hunting book. Very cool.

Yes, the 1266 was probably the deepest machine ever made. If you had the larger coil, I don't doubt it could get a quarter to 1.5 ft. deep !!

But the "devil was in the details". Even though it had a disc. knob, yet .... everything beyond 6" deep began to sound the same. Ie.: it seemed the disc. was only good for the first 6" or so. It certainly wasn't a cherry picking machine. Also: It wasn't too good in nasty minerals or wet-salt-beach (way too noisy & squirrely). But for something like white dry sand, where you didn't need nuanced TID, it was incredible for depth.
