Anyone know how to decipher vintage White’s detector date code?

Searching internet yields little info.

Wonder if only 2 letters or one number and letter?
Seems this gent has GG.
I have saw other detectors when searching that had other 2 letter designates codes.

Don't know about that code.
There is another old sequence where you subtract the date code from 1,000,000 to get the full date in MM/DD/YY format, but others will have to chime in with info about the letter codes ...

You might try a phone call. I don't know if anyone is answering the phone at White's, but they were always really good about giving out that mfg date info.

I think when Mary was there, it was one of her main duties...

White's was always pretty secretive / protective of that date code.
I don't think that's going to matter much, now.

"Patty" at White's used to have a sheet of the date codes. I wish I had made a copy.

1st digit = year of manufacture
next 3 = day of that year
middle set of numbers = model number
last set = actual order the detector was made that day

If it has a white rectangular sticker and has a 4 digit code...the first and last denotes year of manufacture. I.E. '8256' would mean 1986.

That model was like 71-74 or so looking through some literature.
