Imo it will be Deus users or prior Deus users who will meld faster with EQX on average.

Not users of Explorer, Etrac, F75, At pro, White’s Mxt, etc.

I have an equinox 800. Put about three hours on it before I took it to an organized hunt up near Petersburg, Virginia. Over 200 people there

The first day, dozens of people literally HAMMERED an area that was wall to wall iron--consensus was it was an old home place, cut nails and iron trash everywhere. That evening, the scuttlebut was that several good confederate buttons were found there. So we went there the next day.

When we got there the next morning, there were already thirty or forty people there, and a group of about six guys jumped out and started working ground right in front of us. One of them dug a Pennsylvania National Guard button as we watched. We dicked around for about 30 minutes, then jumped into the fray.

I started detecting right in the middle of where for an entire day, people had crossed and crisscrossed back and forth with every machine imaginable from the low dollar brand X machines, to the big dollar Minelabs--there were so many footprints on the ground that it looked like a small army had tramped through there. It had been plowed in the past, but rain and cultivation had it beat down pretty level, with no weeds or stubble. There was tons of iron---I could hear it all as I had my machine set for 50 tones, so I could hear all the medium and high tones in the midst of the iron "grunts."

About ten steps and I got a rock solid, four way signal, and dug an eagle button about 4" deep. Took another four or five steps and dug a button back--probably confederate, but not sure. Then I got distracted by a new Equinox user who needed help setting up his machine, so I spent about 20 minutes with him.

All the while I was wondering how those two deafening good audible signals could have been missed.........

Turned back to the general area where the buttons were found and found myself on a collision course with a guy swinging where I was trying to get back to, so I made a detour and ended up following in his footsteps through the general area where I dug the button and button back.

All of a sudden, another loud, 4-way repeatable, solid signal in the 19-22 ID range. When I say loud, I'm saying aluminum can at 3" deep loud. I was thinking coin. About 7" deep, out pops a beautiful Virginia State Seal coat button with a pre-war back mark.

Now, I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, nor am I some elite, master of detecting. But I do know enough to understand that it was the MACHINE'S capabilities that made finding those three good targets possible, NOT my detecting skills.

All that being said, you might want to give your equinox another chance............or two.

I moved from the Explorer, Etrac and CTX before getting a Nox, I took to it like a duck to water. It was a natural transition for me, been using it for the last 3 years.
