Landmine detector's

I was on the Goldprospectingoz site and there was mention of a portable landmine detector called the DMD. It sounded like pretty advanced technology. Tom,are there technologies out there that would advance the hobby detector, but are just to expensive to be considered? Every time I see something like the Pulse Devil I think we must be just on the cusp of some great breakthroughs.
