XP deus and rusty bottlecaps

Wonder if it is any better with rusty caps than some of the other units. I remeber the coinstrike was real bad about reading them as a quarter. I am considering trying the deus but just a little on the cautious side right now.

I have not had any problems identifying bottlecaps even with the 18khz program. You may dig some bottlecaps in the beginning, but the caps have certain variances in the audio and id is often jumpy, so you will learn to avoid them.

Here is a video that will show, that the Deus can identify rusty bottlecaps just fine:

I can confirm this works! I dug a few before I trusted it!

Go to menu, press expert in the reactivity option, put the silencer to your preferred value, exit menu.

If you use the silencer will you lose gold rings you have a silver ring but what about gold or do the caps come in the same as silver? Are you disc with the silencer on?

TAKE A LITTLE TIME KICKBACK AND WATCH SOME OF MY DETECTING VIDEO'S BELOW ON YouTube

If you don’t dig it, then how are you going to know what you’re missing!
How can you have your pudding if you don’t eat your meat!

My disc was in 33. You dont lose anything valuable, if you use the silencer. It only silences partially discriminated iron objects crackling sounds and this helps id the bottlecaps, however using too much silencer will battle against the reactivity setting, so use it as little as you can.

Bottlecaps tend to read high in the meter especially with the 18khz, but they dont sound as pure as silver.

Hate to say it, but anytime you discriminate out ( or notch out ) a specific conductivity range, you may lose a valuable target that is in that range.

Gold jewelry covers a lot of ranges, due to it being alloyed, so there is potential to lose a gold target no matter what. Of course if you are in an area where there is an abundance of one or two particular targets that span a narrow range, it's obvious discriminating/notching or silencing them is paramount. BUT...that also means any good target in that range may be discriminated or silenced or will not sound as pure as it would without that range being affected by some type of disrimination. Ground conditions also play a huge role.

One more thing...bottle caps also can span a wide range depending on make up, depth and how corroded they are.

Like one of the old time hunters used to write on his posts ( can't remember who ), "The best discriminator is your eyes". You don't know for sure until you dig it up.

I dont like to dig up foil, so i disc at 33, if i am searching modern places. If it means that i lose some thin gold items, so be it. All the beer bottlecaps i encounter are made of steel, so the silencer works against them and they all behave the same.

Got news for you most gold rings are female thin ones...some with nice stones and you will find most of them in the foil range....so I would guesstimate you are loosing 35-40 percent of the gold rings in your area....
