Do larger coils hit coins on edge better?

Do larger coils hit coins on edge better?

My CZ20 with a 10.5" coil seemed to get more coins on edge than my CZ/8". My Minlab Sov with the 12" coil, same thing.

Anyone else notice this?

Yes. The electromagnetic lines of flux have a wider 'angle-of-attack'........... resulting in a greater view of the sides of the coin.
DD coils have a very narrow footprint........... and can (primarily) only see the edge of a vertical coin.

Only speaking from CZ experience the 10 inch Fisher CZ coil did indeed.....
