3 gold, 1 silver with the E-trac

Pro coil, manual sensitivity = 26, noise cancel #11, audio gain = 30

Day 1. Saw a narrow strip of wet sand below a wide band of pebbles on the surface of the sand. This narrow strip was near the middle of the low/high tide zones. Hit the strip, and after a while, got a very low tone signal. A 14k gold lightning bolt pendant. Made a 2nd pass thru this strip. Got another very low tone weak signal. A 10k broken gold ring with a crown over a heart, with hands holding the heart.

Day 2. Checked the area where I found the broken gold ring. Got a very weak signal low tone signal. After recovery, it looked like a green glob. Assumed it was a piece of corroded copper trash, and proceeded to put it in the trash pouch. Luckily, saw the dull gold edge. Used an ultrasonic cleaner to break up the corrosion, but it didn’t work. After nearly 2 days in a salt-vinegar solution, the green corrosion finally loosed up. The baking soda rubdown brought the gold shine out. Acid test indicates it’s 10k.

Day 3. Only got more costume jewelry and a Cub’s pin.

ID = inner diameter (in millimeters)
Procoil auto-sensitivity = 16
Rings air-tested with ring parallel to coil, unless otherwise noted

Row Col carat ID grams depth FE-CO max depth description
1-2 1 14k ---- 1.19 1” 13-01 2” lightning bolt
 3 1-2 10k 17 1.14 1.5” 12-01 3” broken heart-crown ring (ring face down)
 4 1-2 10k ---- .40 1” 13-01 1.5” partial heart ring (ring face down)

Here’s the gold and silver finds together.

Here’s the partial heart ring with the green glob of corrosion attached. It looked a lot worst when I first recovered it, and assumed it was trash. As I was about to put it in the trash pouch, caught a glimpse of gold on the edge, and rubbed the edge a bit. Another close call.

Here’s the 10k broken heart-crown ring with well defined hands holding the heart. Next to it is a 14k gold ring (upside down) with a heart-shaped red stone I found several weeks earlier. Both are probably made by the same company, but the 10k ring has better defined hands.

Here’s a tiny silver leaf pendant or charm, or something. It came out of the sand with a light brownish, grayish color. It had a very thick layer of blackish corrosion around it. After tumbling in a rock tumbler, a salt-vinegar bath, and ultrasonic cleaning, finally got the silver to come out. The 1st photo is before cleaning. The 2nd is after several hours. The brownish color is gone, but there’s still a thick gray coating. The 3rd is the final results. Electrolysis finished the job.

Here’s some of the costume jewelry.

Very surprised you found the broken ring, how deep was it?
Great pics thanks!

Around 4 to 5 inches. A high manual sensitivity, wet sand beach, and most important, the ring has a large face. The eddy currents travelling around the large ring face gave a strong enough signal to be detected at depth with the E-trac. If the broken ring was uniformly thin, it would have been very difficult to detect more than an inch or 2.
