One wonders if Minelabs 3 year warranty was projected into future sales...Sort of a surprise with the new big bucks Minelab hitting the bricks and leaving some guys with recently bought E-tracs... easier to sell used with lots of warranty left and more bucks in the sellers pocket to the buy the new big bucks edition comes to mind.
Plain and simple more sales and more profits and lets not forget the plusses of new technology for the hobby....
