Question Tom
June 23, 2009 09:41PM
I recently converted my CZ6 to a CZ6a and bought a 5 " coil for it. I have been using the 5" coil and am noticing that a lot of the nickels I find come in as foil on the coil. Even after I did it out and check it it comes in as a solid foil signal. I did not have that trouble with the 8" coil. Is this to be expected or is the small coil not working properly. Can I do any adjustments on my unit to fix this.? The unit was calibrated and inspected when the conversion was done. Can you explain this?

Easy to explain. You gave me the correct information. Nickels ID as 'nickel' with the 8" coil. Hence/therefore your 5" coil is impedance mismatched. This is fairly common with the 5" coil...... but not the 10.5" or 8" coil. Your detector is fine........ it's the 5" coil. When purchasing a 5" coil, I always recommend: try before you buy.
So my only option is to buy another coil?
