Auto Software Gain Boost???
August 10, 2009 06:16PM
Back in May '08, on this forum, there was a thread titled:
"What do you make of this from the UK?????" stating that
there was an automatic software gain boost at Disc level
below 6...I think I've got that right.

Recently, on another T2 forum, someone was claiming that
there is a similar software boost at Disc levels above 49.
Does anyone know if this is accurate?

What is purpose of this 'software boost'? Seems to me
strange, that this was designed in as an automatic feature,
rather than leaving it manual, to the user's discretion.

Thanks...

First, on the F75..... the Sens/gain boost is not ascertained unless the Disc is on '4' (or lower). There are multiple trains-of-thought for justification..... but...... in simple form; when a detectorist chooses to run Disc nearly (or completely) wide-open.... the 'boost' in Sens is wanted.
When MOST detectorists select a higher amount of Disc..... more stability is wanted - - - and this fits the aggregate detecting community. Folks have a tendency to get into trouble with TOO much Sensitivity..... even amateurs; hence, this CYA configuration.

In most cases.... it is only the VERY serious detectorist of whom utilizes little/no Disc; subsequently, has a greater understanding of 'overdrive' nuances.
