Sifting results

In @ 5' diameter area over 400 items came through sifter...250 intact valuable pieces...referring back to my post on small coil on f-75 opens floodgate. Also the probe I had made for locating outhouse pits and trash pits has been very helpful also. I can probe ground and feel where there is alot of debris...in an old area with no new activity it deserves detecting and some sifting! Fortunately this is a wooded area and digging and sifting are not a problem.

This reveals just exactly how bad the REAL mask is! If the dirt contains very old items........ the metal detector should be utilized as a distant 'secondary' tool to locate a general location of high activity. Then the detector is turned off.... and a sift-pit becomes necessary.
