A cz-3d on fleabay just went for about the same...it was Tom tuned at 12.0" and looked like a cream puff.

Yeah but - 3d's are still sold new and 6a's are like 15/20 yrs old (plus it wasn't Tom tuned)!

They are worth what people will pay for them. I would expect to get at least the same price for my 1021 cz,Tom tuned, over 12" depth, air, with three coils.

Actually, the cz-3ds that are the most revered (and the one that just sold for over $700) are the 1021 Los Banos units that are almost 20 years old.

I'm not the one to ask why, but the depth of the newer cz-3ds doesn't come close.

Both of my CZ6a's that are over 20 years old, air test and perform the same as my 1021 CZ3D that was Tom tuned.....and they have NEVER been tuned or sent back to Fisher/FT for any reason. These things have been exposed to every type of environment...heat, mud, pouring rain, salt water beach hunting, without ever having a cover on them.

A testament to how good these units are.

I would never sell the 2 I have. They would be the last to go if I had to sell off all my units. To me, they are the best all around units ever made.

But it also had two coils and the hard case.

Heed the therover as he speaks the truth and been there and done that....

Had two and Tom Manly just got his back( sort of a gentlemans agreement)

PS: Have one just as nice as the one Michiganrelichunter just bought(hard to believe I know) and due to recent medical problems may be up for grabs as deep silver hunting days may be over but would let the forum members get first crack and I sure don't ask E-bay prices. The next week of testing will tell me a lot so keep tuned...

They did

Fisher CZ 3D
Avg. Score (4.5 Stars)
Manufactured date: 2004
Approximate price: $800

[metaldetectorreviews.net]

the 6a's are 15/20 yrs old - not 3d's

you can still buy a new 3d from most any detector dealer
