Complete Loss of Impulse Control - CTX 3030 Ordered

Time to shred my credit cards.

Since I seem to be spending more time turf hunting these days, I figured this might just be the monster to learn. Now I just have to part with some other machines to justify the cost.

Don't think you'll regret it. I see one in my future too. Good luck !

I can really empathize with you. Out here the hunting is mostly for clad or jewelry and since the lake beaches are prohibited it's hard to justify dropping those kind of bucks. I've located a bag of silver jewelry as well as 8 gold rings the last year or so but even with the clad I've picked up , which is probably close to $800 , I'm still well behind paying for the two detectors I'm using now.

There might be a CTX in my future when I can trade a kruggerand or maple leaf for one. smiling smiley

I don't look at it that way. When I buy something for hobby, in this case a detector, I'm not going to try to make up for the cost, with finds. Detecting, for most of us is entertainment, exercise, adventure, history learned, exciting, something to look forward to, meeting people and the list can go on. How much is all that worth?....to me, much more than the cost of a detector. If you can afford it and your better half understands, buy it.
One thing that's important that I have learned, is, keep up with your chores and spend some quality time with the wife and family. Then, when you're out there in the field, you have a clear conscience and your a happy detectorist. Have a blast.

I agree with you. Aside from cashing in my clad, I've never sold any of my finds. What I meant was that I don't need to keep machines I don't have time to use anymore. I'd rather use the value of those units to try something new. I'm amused by how, in the course of a year, I went from "I'd never pay that for a hobby detector" to "I've got to have one".

I couldn't agree with you more. The biggest issue out here however is enjoyable venues to detect , not to mention the "can afford it" part when you already have 2500 tied up to begin with.
Some day ---, however please refrain from undermining my rationalizations smiling smiley

And I was thinking with a EuroTek Pro I'd have gas and battery money left over...
I'd have to sell most of my back up machines to cover a new CTX. Maybe if I find a few more good rings...
Just thinkin...

My X kept telling me to get rid of my detector so I decided to keep the detector and get rid of her.LOL!

Heck I speak from experience as must have used 100 plus models over the last plus 20 years. My advice learn it well and an experienced CTX mentor shortens the learning period. The fellow that initially said the only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys was right on.
Do enjoy and a lot of learned guys on this forum so don't be bashful with questions as we all learn in the process...

Quote from Harold; [My X kept telling me to get rid of my detector so I decided to keep the detector and get rid of her.LOL!]

Women have different leash lengths, thank goodness mine is somewhat long.....still a leash, none the less. After all these years with her, I finally figured out where the end is, and slow down just before I choke myself.

She had to say "heel" a few times before I got the picture. Like I said before, I learned if I keep up with my chores, projects and husbandly duties, all stays good.
