Garrett makes an adapter for both the Gold and the Pro to allow regular phones.

They now make the gray ghost amphibians which are waterproof and have great sound. They are what i use now.

The Gray Ghost Water Proof are not for the hard of hearing. I tried a pair and had a very hard time hearing the faint signals. there is a copper or brass plate over the speakers to seal them from the water. Makes faint signal sound muffled to me.
