1021 CZ 3D

I was able to obtain a NIB Fisher CZ 3D ser. #10210345, Los Banos California made with Lifetime Warranty. I did an air test, here's the results:

DISC 0
Sens. 4.5
Ground 5
Vol 10
MODE Enhance

Clad dime rang in about 11 +" ID $
Nickels rang in ALL "round pull tab"
These are just clad nickels I have in a jar. From 70's to present.
I switched to Salt MODE and some nickels started to ring in at nickel.

I have a ser. #1121 CZ 3D and it IDs ALL nickels...nickel in Enhance MODE

Tom, I think my #1021 need to be re-calibrated. I sent you a PM in regards to this. I know you are busy...but would love to have this calibrated to your CZ 3D specs.

My upper rod on the #1021 CZ was assembled crooked. I believe the plastic part that holds the box on was rivited on not square on with the rod. No biggie, I have a New upper and lower rod assy on order from Fisher.

I got a great tip from a good friend of mine today in regards to my ser. #1121 CZ. I posted I was getting 11 +" clad dime air test with SENS. at 4.5 Chris from Ohio suggested I turn my SENS. up to 10 for the clad dime test. Well I did just that, what do ya know, 12"!!! About 3/4" inch more distance from 4.5 to 10 on SENS.

Had a little EMI on the detector, I was in my kitchen. But glad to know I got 12" air test clad dime. Does that tell me anything, yes...it's a good one!

Have not preformed this New clad dime air test on the New ser. #1021 CZ yet.
It's boxed, waiting Tom's word to ship it!

Went out side and GB'd the CZ, all setting the same as described in first post, except SENS. at 5

Clad dime rings in a 12" that little bit helped. I was running my CZ last year at 4.5 SENS. This year we'll go 5

Thanks agian Chris!

Somewhere along the line.......I think I posted that most analog CZ's are at Max depth (minimum width) at a Sens setting of approx 4.8. A Sens setting of '10' will give you the same max depth..... but also 'max width'. In trashy areas..... you will find that 'minimum width' EM footprint is MUCH better at adjacent target separation.

Yes, sounds like you have a high-powered #1021...... but the windows may be slightly out of cal. Yes, I can calib your unit.

Tom,

I got a bit confused with what Chris said in regards to the SENS. I missunderstood and cranked it up! Chris did mention to me to set it at 4.8 maybe 5, and I failed to listen.

I appreciate you looking at my #1021 unit!

Well, got back my #1021 CZ-3D from Tom today, it was ent 1 week ago for a tune up. I was able to acquire an super condition #1021 Los Banos, CA CZ-3D with original box and paperwork. My initial tests yielded ALL new and old nickels IDing round pull tab and a clad dime +11". Right away I e-mailed Tom that this unit needed a tune up.

Tom corrected the nickel window for me. I just ran a test:
Ground 4.5
Disc 0
Sens 4.8
Mode Enhance
Vol 10

I got a glad dime close to 12" with a good beep. AWSOME!
I got 3 nickels that I tumbled clean, 10 clad nickels from 1989-2001 and clad nickels 2004 & 2005.
ALL ID nickel, loud and proud.

I did the same nickel test with my other CZ, it's a #1121. It also ID every nickel as nickel.

Tom, thank you agian for you time. You did a perfect job.

Tom, my #1121 unit, clad dime test needs your opinion. I get +11" no problem, but beep is very week? Is this a concern, I can ship it to you, no problem.

No. Save the time and money. Does NOT sound like an issue. It's a 'modulated' audio. Just turn up the volume a bit for the deeper targets!

Forgot to add:

I tested a Buffalo nickel with both machines...results...ID nickel.
I have used both new and old..

And tested about the same..For your info CZ3D in most areas will allow no higher than a 5 sens. while keeping a stable unit. Older CZ's must have had different sens. parameters as have ran older digital CZ's 6-7-8 and kept a stable unit. The good news is in most cases a CZ3D set at 4.8 or so will give you just as much depth...So guys talking about running your unit at 10 sens has me lost as the unit would be unstable at best unless your mineralization is little or none...And your neck of the woods may differ, but I doubt it..As far as testing indoors expect the enviroment to influence your unit..
This is my CZ-3D

Was reading old archives on these and recognized this serial number. I got this March 2010. What happened to Coinhunter?

Anyhow, does Tom validate these units with a sticker or something as I don't see anything on my unit? Anyone out there have one that Tom calibrated?

I started the certification sticker only about 1 year ago.

Thanks Tom. He told me you calibrated this one. Was a surprise to come across this thread.
