LOVE THOSE HUNTED OUT CAMPS, LTD STYLE

Hi All
Here is what the last 4 hunts to a Hunted Out Camp" turned up once again. My hunting buddy and I have gotten 4 gold dollars out of this so called camp in the last year. Believe me nothing is hunted out using the LTD and the correct settings for where you are. In the picture is another 1862 Gold Dollar, a few A buttons,US box plate, nap sack hooks, a Rosette US from a horse blanket[ we believe] and the real surprise it the 16--- 41 cal. Volcanic bullets, also called Rocket Balls. They were made by the Volcanic Arm Company just before the CW war. It was the first tube feed under the barrel magazine but it just didn't have the knock down power. The company when broke, and Mr. Winchester ended up with it and hired a fellow Named " Henry" who redesigned it, refined the bullet to a cartridge type hence the " Henry 44 cal rifle". These are rare bullets for they made 41 and 31 cal. These bullets will bring $ 60 to $ 95 on the market if I want to sell them. I may just wait to see what the LTD will be replaced with before a make a move on them. IF you are interested in the setting that I use and these are really pr oven, for pressing the red button down to switch back to DE, from PB they are very weak, broken up or just non existing. I used 50-70 sens, where ever it is most stable, of course you have some noise, PB mode, and most important""""" 0 discrimination, and 4 tones I JUST LOVE MY LTD oh yes my back up is another LTD, wouldn't walk back to the truck for anything else. <a href="[s665.photobucket.com]; target="_blank"><img src="[i665.photobucket.com]; border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Absolutely priceless!!! And those $1 gold coins are tiny......hard to find.......and will ID very low. Most folks will not dig targets that ID so low. The Type-3 $1 gold coin should have ID'd as a '24' with the F75 LTD........under ideal conditions. And the LTD is the deepest detector on the market .....specifically for these $1 gold coins..........,,,,,,,,,,,, even moreso over gold prospecting detectors. This is the reason why these targets ($1 gold coins)........finally..........are starting to 'come-to-light' .... for the first time!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!

Lil-John and Tom what I'm finding to be a great feature of the LTD boost mode, specifically for small gold, is how it makes it sound BIG. I hope to find a gold coin with the F75 LTD, I just need to get into the right sites.

On the flip side, this isn't always a desired feature, I mean how many 8" deep 22cal short shells does a guy need to dig because they "sound" large smiling smiley

Hey Cal

You can't believe the pocket full of 22 cal bullets and casings I've dug but one of these times BINGO. The small gold coins hit from 24 up so even if it is near something else it will up average and give you a different ID. I'm strictly a tone digger but do look at the ID just to dig more carefully.

Is that a 186'3' or 186'2' ???
Hey Tom Re: LOVE THOSE HUNTED OUT CAMPS, LTD STYLE

Hey Tom

You know that Bob and I are only hunting the early camps, that is an 1862. IF you ever get yourself up here you know I'll put you in the zone. We have gotten 2 [ 61's ] and 2 [ 62's ] this year so far. I'm still trying to find my $ 2 1/2 gold to catch you. I do have a $ 5 that I dug many, many years ago. It is just a better feeling to me to dig the small gold coins but I'll take the bigger ones if they come under the LTD coil.

Very VERY few detectors will find the $1.00 gold coins. I'd rather find a Type-1 $1.00 gold coin vs. a $20 Double Eagle......BECAUSE OF THE CHALLENGE!!! Are you swinging in 20" of snow??!

Wellllllll Tom

I believe Bob and I are out of the relic digging zone for a while and yes we still have at least 20" of snow in the woods. We have dug many times in the snow up to 6" but this time it will win this round. We are hoping and praying to the relic gods for lots of rain and not the white stuff. I'm sure it will be more that a few weeks to clear this mess out...I may just make a trip to your house in March but I will let you know by phone. I have a motor to pick up over in New Port Richie. You can just keep digging for me till I catch up with you..

My relic hunting is in the winter......when the grass has died down and the dirt is somewhat dehydrated,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,............just the opposite of your conditions! Summer in FLA....and the grass is tall/fat......and the dirt is swollen (targets become deeper); subsequently, summer is almost exclusively reserved for beach hunting.
